Meyer set to join up with Sharks

Steve Meyer will join the Sharks squad in Cape Town later this week and should probably expect to feature in the game against the Stormers on Friday night.

According to a report on Keo, this means that an as-yet-unnamed player will leave the squad. The undercurrent seems quite suspicious – not sure if somebody has done something wrong, or if the plan was always to send a guy home when Meyer arrived.

Sharksworld have just learned that it is, in fact Luzuko Vulindlu who will fly home on Wednesday to make room for Meyer in the 28-man squad. This presumably means that Zuks will need to take all of his chances in the Tuesday game.

  • It’s also possible that the player in question is Willem Alberts…

  • @robdylan (Comment 1) : thats what my initial thought was, hopefully that means SARU has done something and hopefully that saga can be sorted out. I don’t suppose the Lions actually want them back? What would the worst case scenario be?

  • @war1 (Comment 2) : Lions are angling for money. They don’t want the players back because it would create too many issues trying to kiss and make up. Dick has kinda publicly stated that he doesn’t want anyone who isn’t “100% committed to the cause” or some bs like that.

  • @robdylan (Comment 3) : maybe an arbitration case before the super 14 starts would be best case scenario?

  • Willem is a big part of a potential Sharks success in the Super 14, a loose trio made up of kanko, willem and jean is frightening to say the least! Let the three of them play with the ball and i think we are in with a shot of beating anyone haha

  • @Miguel (Comment 6) : that trio could be the best ever if they get time to settle and stay injury free, imagine having Keegan on for the last 15 when you have those 3 hammering the opposition for 65mins!
