Ruben, the fight is over – may you RIP & may your family and loved ones find solace in this sad time. Thank you for great rugby memories, both for SA and for the Bulls. Hamba kahle.
RIP Ruben.
Peace and comfort to the family.
Good on the SA Rugby Legends who recently gave big support to Ruben and his family.
his only flaw was he played for the bulls. what a great player and a big loss to sa rugby.
Great rugby player and a very humble person. I wish peace upon him and his family.
no doubt the lord will be with your family in their time of need, but they will find strength in knowing you are in heaven safe and sound
what a legend! great player and a good man, an excellent example to all of us
My favourite Ruben memory… when I was a student, we pulled into the parking lot at Brooklyn Mall and happened to park next to Ruben’s sponsored car. I left a note on the windscreen saying “Hi Ruben. Please sign and put this on the blue Honda next to you” (quite cheeky, I know!)
Got back to find he had done so. “Rugby groete, Ruben Kruger”.
Great guy. Rest in peace.
@robdylan (Comment 14) : Classic !
RIP. Legend.
and this was our 4500th post.
Very sad news indeed. The term legend and great player are often overused, however these certainly apply to Ruben Kruger. I watched him as a schoolboy at Craven Week and he was simply awesome. One of the best flankers SA have ever produced. RIP Ruben!
“Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived.”
This is a what Ruben Kruger’s wife LIze, said at the time of his death.
Something we can all take to heart.
Go well Ruben.
