Bismarck du Plessis has not spoken to anyone regarding a move to France – or anywhere else for that matter.
This is what I’ve been told by a trustworthy source who got the info from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. As I mentioned in my article yesterday, it’s time for all of us to put this Bismarck stuff to bed now and have faith in the player, as a professional, to do his job for the Sharks.
Let’s do this thing, Bissie (or “the Bizness” as I’ve now decided to call him)! Sharks forever.

great news Rob….class act this Biz
@grant10 (Comment 1) : he’s a good boytjie all right. Now they must just work on his ball-carrying technique. Fetcher-bait. Perhaps the new interpretations will help.
it was obvious. he wasn’t going to jeopardise his spot on the 2011rwc plane. especially with gary botha back in town.
Good news indeed. I reckon start with Bizzie and bring Dikkes on for the last 20 min or so. If you think about it, we don’t need John there in a captaincy role, considering Stefan’s win record as captain, which is actually pretty impressive.
this is great news!! and i hope that brussow will join the 2 du plessis’ next year at the sharks .
@bergshark (Comment 5) : dude, I LOVE you profile pic
Is that Ackies?
Rapport had an interview with Bismarck this last Sunday, I cant find it on the web. But he basically says that he is very happy in Durban, has a job in Durban (financial advisor I think), is close to the farm and ratesthe following 3 people as having major roles in his rugby career, his boet, Johan Ackerman and wait for it….Jon Smit.
It was a good, positive interview.
@robdylan (Comment 6) : hehehe that is a good pic
thanks
yes that is Ackies .and the england player is lee mears.
Tiaan Liebenberg should be on the Bok bench. Now that oke is a seriously good hooker. A much better player than the overrated Gary Botha.
@wpw (Comment 10) : I really rate Tiaan and he has a fantastic attitude
As far as his talent on the field is concerned I have no problem. He works his backside of and he is pretty strong to boot. My only worry is his inclusion moves JS to TH and I’m still not convinced that he is suited for that position. Just my opinion… don’t shoot me!
By the way, could anybody tell me what will happen “IF” BJ Botha should return to the Sharks? Goodluck to the poor soul who has to manage the players then.
@Salmonoid (Comment 7) : John Smit also spoke very highly of Bissie in his book and I don’t believe there is any issues between the two.
@Salmonoid (Comment 7) : I’m going to drop the other angle now.
@Farlington : usually coaches would call such a
selection dilemma ‘a nice headache’ to have.doubt the sharks coach will agree when that scenario arises..but i hope it does ,because bj seems to be our best TH .
@bergshark (Comment 15) : if BJ comes back, he won’t be available for the CC anyway, I reckon. So the headache only starts next year. But ja, gut feel is that with Beast, Deon, John, Jannie, BJ, Cilliers and Herbst we have too many top front rowers and one or two will want to move for more game time. Not to mention the promising ones coming through… Chadwick, Redelinghuys, Nhlapo, etc
@bergshark (Comment 15) : see the little curved arrow towards the bottom of each comment? If you click on that, it will automatically insert the “reply”
@robdylan (Comment 16) : Hence me asking the question. I don’t see The Sharks juggling all these players and keeping all of them happy at once. Some will stay and some will leave. The question is Who and when?
Geez let me rather stop, I’m just giving my self a headache thinking that far ahead about problems we might or might not have.
@robdylan :thanks..at the moment i’m blogging via mobile phone ..Aaaargh !! :@
@bergshark (Comment 19) : gotcha
@robdylan :would hate to see either cilliers ,herbst or julian redelinghuys leave.just hope pat cilliers regains his running skills-he was awesome with ball-in-hand before suffering that terrible knee injury against the lions in ’07
:-(
@Farlington (Comment 18) : yeah
Look, let’s just concentrate on getting through the small matter of this year’s Super 14. Then we’ll worry about the future. My feeling is we’ll see a very different-looking side taking the field in the opening Super 15 fixture next year.
@bergshark (Comment 21) : ja, I feel for Pat. Really damaged his confidence.
Those ACL injuries are a real bitch to get over. Let’s just hope Ludik is the same player as he was before…
@robdylan (Comment 22) : agreed on both counts
@war1 (Comment 24) : you’re a good man
@robdylan: plumtree said in the natal witness that ludik also gives options at outside centre and wing…hope he is not going to be used to plug gaps in the backline ..
@bergshark (Comment 26) : well, I reckon the 13 jersey is up for grabs, as is 14 if Oddie doesn’t pull up his socks… so Ludik needs to make a name for himself. If he has lost a little pace, maybe centre will suit him better
@robdylan:valid points .. sharks should have given jean stemmet a chance in their 2 warm-up games.
@bergshark (Comment 28) : yes… I’m really hoping that he’ll get a look-in… him and Trompie Pretorius.
Waylon and Adi also need to show us that they’ve still got it.
@bergshark (Comment 28) : hey, you’ve got 50 points already… halfway to your next rank
@robdylan: trompie pretorius ??
@bergshark (Comment 31) : Jerome Pretorius. Played centre for the under 21s last year and has been training with the Super 14 squad.
@robdylan:jerome pretorius?
@robdylan:yeah,thought that was who u meant..looks big,saw some of his games
I realy hope that this year we won’t only play off the other team’s mistakes the whole time and wait for turnover ball to go and score. Ofcoarse we will do that and theres nothing wrong with that, but i want to see us create our own opportunities for a change.
We are definitely the best provincial team in the world when it comes to counter attack, but i think it’s now time for the backline coaches to step up. We need to see much more creativity, more backline moves and much more fluency when it comes to creating our OWN opportunities.
If we can keep on counter attacking like we do wich is great!, add our own created opportunities with that…then good luck to the team who’s going to try and stop us!.
@The Shark (Comment 35) : agree with you. Although, to be honest, if we just win this year, I’ll be happy
@robdylan (Comment 36) : I have a funny feeling that we will do much better than we expect we will. But i won’t just yet go and bet a crap load of money on them.
@bergshark (Comment 33) : hey… here’s a thing… wait for it…
HE PLAYED FLYHALF AT SCHOOL!!!!!
@The Shark (Comment 37) : no… I’m also quietly confident and trying hard to embrace being written off before the seasons has even started.
Anybody going to watch the supebowl final this weekend? Saints v.s Colts
@The Shark (Comment 40) : can’t say I’ve really managed to get into gridiron much.
Don’t even recognise the names of the two teams
@robdylan (Comment 39) : Yea, i read in the newspaper that bismarck said they know they had a horrible few warm-up games but you don’t win the super 14 in January, you win it in May.
@The Shark (Comment 42) : good for him. I think Bismarck has a few points he wants to prove this year. He didn’t have a great 2009, I feel. Time for him to show the form that made the Bok coach decide to move Smit over for him.
@ TheShark: hope he also remembers that it is not won in the 79th minute
@robdylan (Comment 43) : I agree 100%, he should start running with the ball more, you always see him do the work around the rucks and stuff but i would like to see him with ball in hand more. Lets not forget about Craig Burden, he should go to a accuracy camp or something that shows him how to find his jumpers. But besides his throwing skills he is one hell of a player!.
@bergshark (Comment 44) : Please don’t remind us all of our worst nightmare.
@bergshark (Comment 44) : except sometimes it is
@The Shark (Comment 45) : problem is, getting the timing right only comes with match practice, and Craig’s not getting enough of that right now
@robdylan:bismarck did say in that interview that steve meyer might just be the physical flyhalf the sharks have been looking for (:-o !! ).doesn’t pretorius weigh like a hundred kgs g .he has the physique then to play that direct style of rugby-in your face ,attacking the advantage line,committing the loosies,halfbacks,inside centre .
@The Shark (Comment 45) : go have a read of this:
http://www.sharksworld.co.za/2008/03/03/taking-the-road-less-traveled-sharksworld-chats-to-craig-burden/
@robdylan (Comment 48) : Thats true, he has just got to figure out a way to get it right, goodness knows how. Maybe he should kick the ball to the jumpers???.
@bergshark (Comment 49) : you not maybe confusing him with George Tossell? Trompie is a bit slighter… blonde chap. Doubt he weighs more than 90 at the most.
Tossell has gone to the Pumas, alas. Along with Tian Meyer
@The Shark (Comment 51) : they’ve just got to pick him at 16 and let him have 20 minutes each week. It will come right in no time.
But if John is going to play 2… eish
@robdylan (Comment 53) : He’s in a bit of a crap situation gametime wise.
When he’s in the game and getting ready to throw the ball into the lineout, bismarck should just go and stand behind him like the golf coaches teaches someone to putt…now that would be funny!.
ok boys… I’m off to make curry.
Catch you all later
@The Shark (Comment 54) : yeah, but what was up with him coming on at flank?
Tell you what, Craig could do a reasonable job as a “general” sub, able to cover hooker, flank, centre and wing…
@robdylan (Comment 56) : Now thats an idea right there!.
@robdylan: why didn’t they keep that centre combination going for the vodacom cup?
hello all…
rob sharks_forever is taken , choose a new nick name for bissy
@bergshark (Comment 58) : cos what’s his name likes to save money
@sharks_lover (Comment 59) : The Bizness it is
dude, what’s the situation with Ackies and the Pretoria Supporters’ Club now? I guess he’s had to step down since he’s coaching another team, right?
@robdylan (Comment 61) : he has had to distance himself whilst at lions Rob , but like he said to me nothing can take the sharks out of his heart , or of his family , they all sharks
his oldest son no douby gonna be a good rugby player and already very tall
he didnt resign from the club though , just does not attend or have the time to
club president is still wynand claasens
his son prolly gonna play for france soon i see
@sharks_lover (Comment 63) : looks like it, yeah… quality player is Antonie
BISMARCK’S GOING NOWHERE…. for now.
