Willem Alberts gets his first start in a competitive match for the Sharks by taking over from Jean Deysel on the blindside flank.

  • Good team and pleased to see Ruan back at 10. When someone here said he was going to play scrummie. Hope Goode is up to it if he needs to come on.

Still think Odwa is too slow. Would have had Mvovo there.

Go Sharks. Get a win here and our confidence will be up.

  • @RUGGA BUGGA (Comment 33) : Yes hope that Deysel gets to play. Not good to see such a great player on the bench.

What about Deysel at 6 Alberts at 7 and Kanko at 8? I feel that would be a better loose trio than with Botes at 6.

What is everyones thoughts on that. Also Odwa needs to be dropped for Mvovo. Swannie in for Adt at 12 and Adi moves back to his proper position at 13.

This year I think we sure miss Frans Steyn at inside centre.

Hope none of the team ever, ever read keo. So many there that like to see Sharks fail. Sad that actually as I always support all the saffa sides when they playing a overseas team. The way it should be.

Anyhow hope we can beat the Saders this week. We do that our confidence will be up. Going to be tough with McCaw back. Just knew they would bring him back once they lost to Reds. He was only supposed to come back next week. Also they have a kiwi ref and they all probably know how he blows. Going to be tough for us but we have a good team. Just keep the discipline and we can do it.

  • @Charlie (Comment 37) : hehehehe. Adi is great at 13. Think if Swannie comes on Adi will move over to his proper postion.

We starting to look better now. Not sure about this Goode guy? Never ever seen him play. So hope he is a good back up for Ruan if he gets injured. Pleased to see Ruan has been left to play FH again and not moved back to scrummie. Rory is just fine there just needs those kicking boots on this week.

  • @Puma (Comment 35) : Agree with the deysel, alberts, kanko combo. That is insane crazy! Will put fear into all our opposition. Odwa is lacking some top speed, but for me i feel he still offers alot more than we think. His support play is great and he is always looking for work. He does have that ability to trick guys into thinking he is running slow and then accelerate creating opportunities for those inside him. If he were to be replaced by someone, i would put ludik there until stef calls it quits. But, stef still has a bit to go, he is really fit and healthy.

Odwa is fine but not enough speed. Other teams have real blitz on their wings.

  • VERY INTERESTING INFO FROM GARY GOLD.

    For Round 1

Below is a table of penalties teams conceded whilst on attack (A – below) or whilst on defence (B – below):
    GAME 1: A – 6; D – 20
    GAME 2: A – 9; D – 10
    GAME 3: A – 4; D – 9
    GAME 4: A – 2; D – 22
    GAME 5: A – 3; D – 17
    GAME 6: A – 10; D – 13
    GAME 7: A – 4; D – 11

With the exception of games two and six, the penalties awarded definitely favoured the attacking teams and I can share with you that of the (total of) 140 penalties awarded in Week One, just 38 were given to the team who were on attack.

From this simple analysis it is clear that keeping the ball in hand and NOT kicking it away is the way to go this season.

C’mon SHARKS run at them with all you have.

lemme think last year S14 started at 10 – injured at reds game – then back -me think 2 games for sharks + lions tests & first TN.

back to sharks scrummie and on EOYT as flyhalf.

  • Good team, I hope swannie is ready to take that starting position soon, Adi back at 13 and Murray can cover wing and center.

  • @KSA Shark © (Comment 62) : i couldn’t give a hoot how rory feels about it. he had his chance to impress in two games. and after one game he was back to the usual. and eventhough the sharks were woeful in the game, it was rory’s shocking place kicking that cost us the game. he missed 5 simple kicks. that is ridiculous.
