Straeuli takes charge of under 21s

Sharks commercial director Rudolf Straeuli will add another title to his business card in 2010, as he takes on the role of team manager for the Sharks under 21 side later this year.

The enigmatic former Bok coach has been moving closer to hands-on duties of late, having played a management role for the under 19s for the last two years. Perhaps it’s a good thing that Big Rudi gets to know the youngsters and understands what they’re capable of – we might then see less panic buying for the senior side! One can dream, can’t one?

Swys de Bruyn, a fixture on the junior coaching scene in Durban, will be the head coach, with Ryan Strudwick (forwards) and Andre Volsteedt (skills/conditioning) assisting him.

  • @grant10 (Comment 2) :o h fark, kampstaaldraad up in durban, those boys will be pumping rugby balls while naked & made to kill chickens. How this guy is still involved in south african rugby is a big mystery to me!

  • @Charmaine (Comment 9) : i strained to grasp any meaning from your comment but i understand, english is my 2nd language too.

We can’t runaway from the truth. Anyone in the world of professional sports who subjected had subjected professional sportsmen to the kind of nonsense straeuli sanctioned would’ve been banned or ostracised from the sport…what he did is a permanent blemish to springbok history!

    The sharks can have him.
