The Sharks have without a doubt had a poor and maybe unlucky start. How will things look towards the end of the tournament? Here is my positive and maybe optimistic take.
The Sharks have not really had much continuinty with selection, especially front row and at half back. This will be key to The Sharks performances going forward. The Du Plessis need for game time is really hampering some progress. Not that the blame is simply on them, but the managements lack of Guts to say, ” ur on the bench”. Goode not being able to stay longer than the tour is also a problem. Ruan will have the pressure of moving back, which once again will take a while to get him settled.
The Brumbies have a quality side that includes a good front row and halfback pairing. This is where alot of the game is going to be dicided on the weekend. The Sharks have a really balanced loose trio and centres that can hurt the brumbies if they get front foot ball. Goode might have given away a yellow card or two, but is alot more certain about what he wants to do compared with pienaar. This confidence will help the Sharks Team as a whole on the weekend, because they won’t have to second guess what the flyhalf is going to do.
I really believe the Sharks have the hunger and character to win this one, it won’t be easy, but Sharks to take 4 Points from this one.
If weather stays dry, we should really be able to score four tries. They will be returning from a Bulls hammering and will really feel it. Highlanders have also shown that they can be really vulnerable on defence. Their halfback paring might also be new, with cowan and hobbs back after suspension/injury. Continuity will not be there. Sharks by 10. 5 log points.
Another good oppurtunity for a win. Hurricanes would have flown from SA to Aus to play Brumbies and i feel won’t be fully ready against us. These games with Hurricanes are always close, but i feel If we put pressure on Ripia we should stop their attacking abilities. Weepu and Ripia are also not very consistant goal kickers, so that will also count in our favour. Sharks by 3. Four log points.
This game If a real tough one to call, because we never know when the Reds are Involved. We will feel some jet lag whereas the Reds should be fine considering already playing in SA. The home crowd has to come out in support and the Guys will be very keen to keep going especially infront of the home crowd. Yes, the pressure will be on, but i feel the Reds will struggle up front in the first half and come back towards the end, but we should take it. If weather holds up we should score 3-4 tries. Benefit of the doubt 4 tries. Sharks by 8. Five log points.
We will be fresh after the bye and history is really against the Lions. Over the past few years we have really played our best rugby in Joburg, despite sometimes missing out on the bonus point. The Lions will be in it for the First 20 And then we should pack on a few tries. Also lions seem to not really have a structured defence and Kankow and Adrian jacobs will run around them! I just don’t see the Lions having the side or the gameplan to stop us, especially the size in our forward pack. Sharks by 10. Five log Points.
Jet Lag! The blues should feel a bit tired after a long flight from NZ. Sharks should have good momentum after a lions win. Underestimating the opposition might be a problem at this stage. Blues love to run and have not really done very well in Durbs over the Last few years. We seem to have their number lately. Should be a open running game, allowing us some oppurtunities to score, but i predict us only getting 3; my gut tells me? Sharks by 8. 4 log points.
This game is a tough call. The Sharks are known to really bring thier A game against the Bulls. But, the highveld and the reliable Steyn Should take it from us. Bulls by aroung 5. 1 log point.
Coming off a bye the stormers will be well rested, whereas we might be feeling a bit sore after the Loftus game. I still think that if the Stormers play without Willem De waal we should beat them at home. It will be really tough, but it is a must win. Kicking will win the day. Ruan back at fly after a few weeks should be in the grove now. Expect huge hits and crazy breakdowns! Sharks by 3. I hope. 4 log points.
Should be easy meat, they lack depth in the squad and will for sure have been pumped by the Cheetahs in Bloem. We will come out flying knowing that a 5 pointer will be important. Force will really struggle up front and that should be game over. Sharks by 10. 4 log points, the pressure to get four tries usually counts against us. thats why only four points on the log.
That Leaves us with 39 points. This season with the beter competition between top and bottom teams we will need beteween 36-38 to qualify for semis. I love being optimistic and realistic at the same time? End of tournamnet Results should really go our way considering our depth, lets hope the other teams struggle. If i were a neutral rugby fan, i would predict The Sharks to finish around 6 place on the log, But lets be positive, because we do know what this team is capable of. REMEMBER- All results where Sharks by 3 or 5 could really go either way, but lets give The Sharks the benefit of the doubt; we are supposed to be Sharks supporters not critics anyway.
Sharks vs Bulls at Loftus in the Semi. Crusaders vs Stormers in the Other, home team could really be either.
Lets hope it does look like this come play-offs, SHARKS FOREVER!Tweet
