Cheetahs lose another Bok

Springbok loose forward Lukas “Kabamba” Floors has been found guilty of a tip tackle and banned for five weeks.

The pint-sized back-rower, capped once (and under huge duress) by Jake White back in 2006, was cited for a tackle on Brumbies fullback Julian Huxley in the 77th minute of Saturdays’s match, one which saw Floors’s side concede over 60 points. At a disciplinary hearing held on Sunday, SANZAR Judicial Officer Dennis Wheelahan QC upheld the charge.

He said that he hoped the long ban dished out would serve as a deterrent to other players. My take is that, once again, a South African player has been given the seriously short end of the stick. If the Cheethas weren’t in trouble already, they certainly are now, since playing Floors was already pretty close to scraping the bottom of the loose forward barrel. Who knows where they’ll find a replacement for him now, with the Crusaders looming this coming weekend.

  • And Saru will as always do absolutely nothing!!!

Hey Pokkel, it was quite bad… but 5 weeks??

Anyway, I need to make my LMS pick for this week… not sure who to select.

I have the Cheetahs, Lions, Canes, Force and Blues left.

  • I think a 5 week ban is a bit harsh, ive seen quite a few guys getting away with spear tackles, not even penalties!

  • Well it might sound a bit harsh, but if he did that against a sharks player I would`ve been screaming ” Life Long Ban” ! ;-)

  • …he did pick him up above the horizontal…. then drop him on his head.

It looks as though they are starting to come down hard on it.

Fouatali did the same for the Crusaders and got 10 minutes and he just got him above the horizontal and didn’t drop him !

Obviously a directive to referees
