The penultimate round of the 2010 Super 14 begins with a match between two teams in the semi final race and pushing hard to make the cut. The match in Wellington pits the perennial semifinalists, the Hurricanes against one of the surprise packages of 2010 and almost definitely the candidate for most improved franchise, the Reds. Both teams are pretty desperate for a win as their playoff chances hang on the slimmest of threads. The ‘Canes come off a narrow and lucky win over the Chiefs while the Reds were outclassed by their nemesis, the Brumbies in a result which left their playoff hopes in tatters. This has the makings of a cracker and it’s matches like this which make the last few rounds of Super 14 action so exciting!

Have our AGM for the Tri-athlon club
KAK MAN !!!!!
Hey Hey its Friday!
Anyone watch the T20 game last night. Gibbs can catch a ball. I wonder if the chokers of cricket can finally win a world cup. the chokers of rugby failed again.
@try time (Comment 6) : Gibbs’s reflexes aren’t to bad for an old toppie.
Morning
@KSA Shark © (Comment 1) : great
WAR 1
Its great to see your back
Me new here and very much njoy the site. Original Kaapie staying in Gisborne, New Zealand now and obviously a Stormer supporter. Must say the kiwis don’t say a word about rugby this year. Still hope the canes punish the Reds for there indiscretions against the Stormers this season lol.
@Kiwibok (Comment 11)

Thanks Chaz, will do
@Kiwibok (Comment 11) : Welcome to the site even if your a Stormers supporter

@Pokkel (Comment 7) : so there is hope for stefan.
Is it just me or did this week go very fast
isn’t this adolf’s department. imagine being a player getting jerked around like this. players and staff don’t get any news of what goes on, so they get their hopes up then find it is all hot air. wasn’t aj treated like this and albert. makes you want to support the bulls.
@Kiwibok (Comment 15) : You’re allowed a couple of stupid comments as long as you can stand the heat afterwards
@try time (Comment 21) : Well if this is true and it looks like it well must say me very
of what they did to old Butchie and to treat him like that its
@try time (Comment 19) : I wouldn’t go THAT far
@Pokkel (Comment 22) : i can’t take nandos super hot, that is why i don’t make stupid comments.
@try time (Comment 21) : you
and
to even thing of going to the Bulls
@Chaz (Comment 23) : and people think jdv might come to the sharks, by the time adolf wakes up jdv would have retired from rugby.
@try time (Comment 27) : agree me friend agree
@Chaz (Comment 26) :
@try time (Comment 29) :
it does make sense why percy, stefan and ackermann joined the sharks so late in their careers…it took adolf that long to get the contracts sorted.
still rolling on the floor
@try time (Comment 25) : I love Nando’s but the super hot is hot hey and I like hot.
@try time (Comment 31) : eeee
@try time (Comment 31) : adolf wanted gaffie du toit back but he couldn’t wait any longer so he retired.
Till later
@Pokkel (Comment 32) : its great with bolognaise. mmmm
@Chaz (Comment 35) : gator
@try time (Comment 27) :
Adolf?? LMAO
@wpw (Comment 38) : if you treat bok players like russian pow’s you earn the name.
@try time (Comment 39) : and i hate the image of my favourite christmas character ruined.
Poor Butchie.
The good news for him is that if PDivvy really wants him back in SA then he will pull the right strings – that is a seperrate issue and has nothing to do with the Sharks.
@Salmonoid (Comment 41) : i actually think that might be THE ISSUE, when the story broke the plan was for SARU to help the Sharks with the transfer fee was it not? there is more to this story . . .
ok the game has started still 0-0
@war1 (Comment 42) : well spil the beans so we now what going to happen
@Chaz (Comment 44) : no im just saying there is more to this story not that i know what the “more” is
Oh my
go Canes by 5 on SB
and canes try
5 canes / 0 Reds
@war1 (Comment 45) : oh me thought you had some more info
oh my Reds in the game score
Reds 7/ 8 Canes
my run they can
Reds try and converted
Reds 14 /8 after 26 mins
Reds try going TMO
TMO says try to Reds and converted
score 21 / 8
@war1 (Comment 42) :
Im sure there is a lot more ….. like the long time period from when the Sharks were desperatly looking for a flyhalf and when this story broke (today), not forgetting another big injury in that period as well.
go reds. hey i don’t mind there being no kiwis in the semis. the aussies don’t travel well over the indian ocean.
cooper is a machine. it shows that the sharks are looking for flyhalves in all the wrong places. juvie and prisons are a good place to start.
13-21 Halftime
I knew I shouldn’t have picked the Canes on SuperBru
Hurricanes scored 4 tries in 10 minutes.
Score Canes 37 – Reds 21
Another try.
Canes 44 – Reds 21
@Pokkel (Comment 57) :
You are not serious!!!
Man – this really mixes things up for the last semi final spot!!
Who will take it………..?
Well this is just AWESOME!!!
I am glad the Canes beat the Reds!! woohoo!!
WHAT??????? The Canes won?
I have SB points Whoooohoooo
Log looks a little precarious for the Reds.
Are we going to have no aussie teams in the semis?
@Kiwibok (Comment 11) : Fook yeah, they deserved that them damned REDS lol
@KSA Shark © (Comment 62) :
Wasnt the speculation a week or two ago that the kiwis might not get a team into the semis.
Go Canes – saved us a point there!
@VinChainSaw (Comment 64) :
Hey i think that was the speculation this morning still.
I need to go and look when the last time is the Saders didn’t make the semis
@KSA Shark © (Comment 65) :
I’m doubtful if that has ever been the case!
@KSA Shark © (Comment 65) :
2001. loooooooooong time ago.
2010 Crusaders S14 ?????????
2009 Crusaders S14 Semi-Finalists
2008 Crusaders S14 Champions (H)
2007 Crusaders S14 Semi-Finalists
2006 Crusaders S14 Champions (H)
2005 Crusaders S12 Champions (H)
2004 Crusaders S12 Runners-Up
2003 Crusaders S12 Runners-Up
2002 Crusaders S12 Champions (H)
2001 Crusaders S12 Tenth
2000 Crusaders S12 Champions (A)
1999 Crusaders S12 Champions (A)
1998 Crusaders S12 Champions (A)
1997 Crusaders S12 Sixth
1996 Crusaders S12 Twelfth
They are currently 4th on the same points as Reds (34) but have a better PD than the Reds.
Reds PD 56
Saders PD 80
A loss by 24 or more drops them to fifth
GO BULLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ouch that hurts)
@KSA Shark © (Comment 67) :
Sheesh and before that it was in 1997!
Its hard to argue with their success seeing it in black and white. They truly are a magnificently successful franchise.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 68) :
I dunno, I’m scared of the reds but less so against the Saders.
Thats probably going to be Bulls’ problem though – Stormers will probably end up playing the Canes in Slaapstad.
@VinChainSaw (Comment 69) :
I don’t think they will make the semis this year and if they do it will probably be 4th place.
Next weeks games are all going to be about PD for these two teams. I feel Sorry for the opposition
14 Crusaders v Brumbies Christchurch 09:35 (SA time)
15 Reds v Highlanders Brisbane 11:40 (SA time)
Hurricanes are away to the Waratahs next week so they COULD still fall out.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 73) :
Either way I’m glad we dont really have to worry about things like PD too much.
And thankfully either the saders or the bulls still need to lose.
eeee Canes great me got 1 / 7 on Sb so far week-end started off just great
@VinChainSaw (Comment 74) :
Saders will lose this weekend,
Stormers I’m not to sure about yet.
Brumbies and Waratahs can both still go 3rd on the log if they win this weekend shifting the other guys down.
The Brumbies are playing the highlanders so I expect 5 from them which will send them 3rd. (How important was that win over the reds last weekend?)
Waratahs are playing the Chiefs so their win is NOT so assured.
Wins for the tahs and the Brumbies WITH BPs will make the log look like this. (presuming the Stormers and Bulls win with BPs as well)
1. Bulls 48
2. Stormers 43
3. Waratahs 38
4. Brumbies 37 (ALREADY ahead of Canes on PD. A BP win will place them above)
5. Hurricanes 37
6. Crusaders 34
7. Reds 34
Crusaders Brumbies next weekend will be an ALMIGHTY battle
@KSA Shark © (Comment 77) :
So of the potential top 6 teams next weekend there are no spoiling oppertunities for any non semi teams.
Stormers / Bulls 2 v 1
Waratahs / Hurricanes 3 v 5
Crusaders / Brumbies 6 v 4
We could be set for one of the most exciting finishes in a looooong time.
