There’s nothing on the official site about this, but it would appear the Willem Alberts is odds-on to miss the Sharks final game of the season, against the Western Force in Durban.
Alberts, who has been battling an ankle injury for the past few weeks, went off early against the Stormers and appears to have hurt his knee. He’ll be out of action for a few weeks, with Jacques Botes the likely candidate to replace him in the starting team. That would mean a move back over to the blind side for Jean Deysel.
More on this as we get it.

and it also just so happens to be his birthday today.
Happy Birthday, Big Vic
Not good, but at least Jean Deysel’s not injured. He’s been the best flanker in the Super 14. And I know that’s saying a lot cos SA has so many good flankers, but this year he’s been playing like a man possessed. And he plays within the laws of the game, doesn’t try to hurt players with a swinging arm.
Been watching that last minute Bulls try, and I have to say, I think it was the right decision. Crusaders were unlucky that it was freakishly caught again after being knocked back by their own player. I don’t think it will be too long before we see TMO referrals before the tryline so refs can be sure about these things.
Hmmm, quiet day on sharksworld, Rob.
Completely off topic. Have you guys seen the massive drop goal Steyn kicked for Racing Metro against Clermont? He dropped from about 55m out, but the ball went so far over the cross bar that he would have landed it if he had been standing between the 10m line and his 22m.
Check it out. Awesome kick

@rhineshark (Comment 5) : Awesome, I really wish the Sharks coaches treated him better when he was here…now he won’t be playing in the 2011 WC…that just seems wrong to me.
@rhineshark (Comment 5) : He kicked a bigger one against the Cheetahs in the 2008 s14 or CC, I’m not sure anymore, but he kicked it from behind the 60, 5 out from the side in windy conditions.
I edited out one real embarrassing typo…oops
No one saw it…good.
@CapeShark (Comment 3) : That try was probably legit but the first try Hougaard scored was seriously dodgy. FdP was never on side at the preceding ruck and the final pass to Hougaard was clearly forward
@Letgo (Comment 8) : I was just about to fix it and saw that you already did… would have been quite a breach of etiquette to say the least
Pity if we lose Alberts. Now just hope Deysel does not pick up a injury. Or any of the players.
Only really good thing not making the semi, is our players will get a well earned rest after this weekend.
Nothing Official? What’s your sorce?

The only injury concern following the match is to Willem Alberts. “He’s out for three weeks,” confirmed Plumtree. “He injured his knee and won’t be available for the Force game so that’s disappointing.”
@Baldrick (Comment 13) : Oh oops
