Sharksworld has been led to believe that Alistair Hargreaves has been called up to the Barbarians squad to take on England at Twickenham next Saturday.
The lanky lock, a South African age-group captain, made his debut for the Boks midweek side on last season’s European tour, but will presumably play the role of the traditional uncapped player in the Baabaas squad, since he is yet to play in a test match for South Africa.
Hargreaves’s selection comes on the back of some very solid outings for the Sharks in this year’s Super 14 since being called in to replace Johann Muller in the number 5 shirt. Surely a full test cap can’t be too far away, particularly with the Bulls and Stormers players set to miss out on the test series against Wales?
Whatever the future holds, we’d like to congratulate Alistair on a marvellous achievement.

Yes, congrats…he really deserves it and I hope he’ll stay with the Sharks for a long time and take over a leadership role soon.
Fantastic young talent this guy. Great 2nd row depth developing with Klein Flip and Al starting to make their mark this year behind the man Andries Bekker.

I want to come back to Injured Pretorius (or is it Andre). They must really warn us , if management is starting to loose their minds before we buy season tickets!!!!!!! We will have a new flyhalve then for next years S14 or is it nou 15. Why do we not use the CC to train a team for S14/15?
He must be our next Sharks and maybe Bok Captain.

I understand that if you play for the A team you cannot be poached does the same apply if you play for the mid week Boks.
If not he may be playing for the other side at HQ fairly soon !

He’s still young though 23 I think, and learning everyday…he’ll have plenty more good games for the Sharks.
