Swys de Bruyn, current head coach at the Sharks Academy, will take the reigns of the Sharks Under 21 team this year, with Rudolf Straueli continuing as the team manager.
Sean Everitt, who coached the team last year to reach the final and very nearly repeated that feat with the Sharks XV this year, looks set to be sidelined to some extent, unless he’s being lined up for a role with the senior side. What exactly this role could be, though, is not clear, since John Plumtree, Grant Bashford, Hugh Reece-Edwards and maybe even Deon Kayser will all be vying for the few spots available.
It seems a bit of a bizarre call, since Everitt is understood to get on far better with the players and has had a better track record in recent years. De Bruyn has coached the team in the past, but it wasn’t until Evereitt took over in 2009 that the Sharks under 21s started to consistently beat the big names. De Bruyn’s approach is understood to not go down all that well with the majority of the players under him.
We’ll report back on this as we get more info.Tweet
