Enough doom and gloom from my side lets look at the road ahead :
Ian Mac taught us a couple of things, faithfull Shark supporters . . . You know this . You need certain key ingredients for a successful campaign. 1 A flyhalve who can dictate. Again you can merely refer back to current form sides, Carter and Steyn keep their team on the front foot, even when they`re up against it. Monty took the sharks to the semi`s last year, he can do it again. But what if something happens to him?
2 Your scrum needs to be rock solid.
3 You need a quality lock who demands some respect out there, he needs to dominate the line outs to such an extent, opposing teams shouldn`t even try to compete. He also needs to hit those rucks hard. We haven`t really had a lock who comply with all these prerequisites since the departure of Mark Andrews and Johan Ackermann.
Lastly there`s the whole marketing issue. The NRU needs to come to the party here. We need to capture the hype that surrounded Sharks Rugby in the 90`s again. Take a bold step, get a recognised artist to write a new Sharks song. While Steve might cause mass stay-aways in Durban guys like Art Mathews or even the Parletones might be considered.
Bottom line : Success breeds success. Dominate this currie cup, make sure of a home semi final and who knows, we might be in with a shout when the big boys of the Stormers and Bulls return. . .

Good luck with that !
Please not monty again,next year when we get to super 15, and then we have no 10 once again, get a young guy to build on
Yeah the future…
Well every dark cloud has a silver lining, or is it that every silver lining has a dark cloud?
@willa (Comment 2) : Agreed, Monty is certainly not the answer. He’s a decent player, but no where near the quality that a team like the sharks should be settling for. We need a talismanic flyhalf who’ll take our back line to the next level for years to come. Hopefully the sharks think tank is setting alot of time aside to sorting this problem out.
Also agree on the whole marketing thing, we need to up our game in that department. There was such a buzz around the sharks in the 90′s , seems too have fizzled out abit lately. I’d like to see more people at the games as well, been to most games the past 2 seasons, and i’d say the tank does’nt get more than 60% percent full nowdays.
Why will no one listen to me??? If you wanna buy, buy Dan!! FFS!
1.See comment 5
)Burden perhaps, Beast and Bis on bench
2.That’s sorted with JS @1, Jannie @3 , not to sure about bis @2 (brothers next to each other
3.The lock we have just need a bit of help-they are young and getting there.
4. Try lLochnville for the song

@Ice (Comment 6) : Hi Ice!
@Me2 aka Mama Shark (Comment 7) : Hey, Ma!
@Ice (Comment 5) : he wasn’t that inspiring this year.
I want a song!!
this would be local.
Or what about some Zulu dance
@rekinek (Comment 9) : he is always inspiring, especially when sighted.LOL! Be honest, he was not half bad the last few games…and with Dan you get more than just a FH. Besides, he’s not impressive is still a hell of a lot more impressive than what we have at the moment!
Use Lochnville…I git the bulls in my pocket and the ball in my hand… :LOL:
@Ice (Comment 11) : i was taking into account that the Sharks team consist of men … and this specie is not appreciative of sightings
why is ruan going to Ulster?
@Megatron (Comment 13) : there are few theories, one is money, second is that he is unhappy with the positional shifts.
but your guess here is as good as mine.
@Megatron (Comment 13) : cos the Guiness in Durban is always too warm
@Megatron (Comment 13) : Is Ruan going to Ulster?
@robdylan (Comment 15) : i thought he did not drink – but must be the weather
@Salmonoid (Comment 16) : why is the Ulster Director of Rugby Operations singing that they have signed him because “he is one of the most naturally gifted players”
From ulsterrugby.com
Following a report in South African Newspaper, The Sunday Tribune, in which Springbok Coach Peter de Villiers confirmed Ruan Pienaar’s move to Northern Ireland, Ulster are delighted to announce that Ruan will join Ulster Rugby on a two year contract. Negotiations for his release are still ongoing with his Province, The Sharks.
Having made his Super 14 debut with The Sharks in 2005, Ruan went on to make his first appearance for the Springboks in 2006, against New Zealand. Ruan was a member of the victorious 2007 Rugby World Cup squad, and to date has won 36 Springbok caps and has scored 85 Test points.
Speaking about Ulster Rugby’s decision to recruit the World Cup winning Springbok, Ulster Rugby Operations Director David Humphreys remarked: “Bringing Ruan to Ulster is a massive statement of our ambition to be competing with the top teams in the Magners League and ERC. He is one of the most naturally gifted players in world rugby and having had huge experience at international level with the Springboks, we believe Ruan will help Ulster achieve success over the next couple of seasons.”
Ruan will be joining former Springbok and Sharks players, BJ Botha and Johann Muller, in the Ulster squad next season.
@Megatron (Comment 18) :
Hey MT!!!!!!!! Long tiiiiiiiiime. That social life of yours picked up quite a bit after the Saders lost the Semi?
@rekinek (Comment 19) : why is De Villiers confirming Pienaar’s move and not the Sharks
Negotiations for his release are still ongoing with his Province, The Sharks
I wonder if they are playing hardball or if it is just formalities that are being completed.
@rekinek (Comment 21) :
Coz he has foot in mouth?
@KSA Stormer © (Comment 20) : social life?
@Megatron (Comment 24) : KSA assumed you have friends
@rekinek (Comment 25) :
