Graeme Smith chose to bat under cloudy skies as South Africa chased a series win in what will only be the third one-dayer at Windsor Park. He made one change to the side that won the second one-dayer, bringing in Charl Langeveldt for Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
West Indies captain Chris Gayle said he would have preferred to bat first after two unsuccessful chases in the series. His job was made harder by the loss of Ramnaresh Sarwan and Nikita Miller to injuries.The one bit of good news for him was the return of the experienced Shivnarine Chanderpaul, after he missed the second game due to injury; Narsingh Deonarine had to sit out.
