Steve Meyer back in training

Having been slapped over the wrists once or twice by irate readers for giving free reign to speculation and rumour when it comes to the subject of Steve Meyer, I’m going to make this piece completely, 100% factual.

The inevitable consequence is that it will be quite short as a result, but there you go!

Steve Meyer is training with the Sharks Currie Cup squad. This has been confirmed by no fewer than four current members of the team. I have further information (and yet more opinions and rumours) about what prompted his shock retirement on the eve of the opening Super 14 game, as well as what transpired in the interim to allow him back into the squad, but will report no further on that until I’ve managed to get it “from the horse’s mouth”, so to speak.

I’ve requested an interview with Meyer to allow him to set the record straight from his perspective. I hope he’ll take up the opportunity to do so.

  • Well what happened earlier the year might not have been the start we were looking for at the beginning of the Super 14. However I got the idea there was more to the story then just a “demanding girlfriend”. I also hope that the team forgives him and that there won’t be any hard feelings which could disrupt the team.

  • Is it true Earl Rose is moving to Bloem and Ashley Johnson to JHB ? Could be great news for us . . . Everyone knows FS have had our number for some time now . . . If Earl starts for them however it might give us a chance!

  • Thanks Rob, finally a factual story on this bloke, just hope he stays on long enough to be there for the actual kick-off of the CC.

I really hope he grants you that interview, else we’ll be in for tons more speculation, of which I could probably come up with 3 or 4 empty unsubstantiated possibilities.

But if he’s able to help us to a CC victory I won’t be too worried about his shady past hick-up, but if he messes up, he better believe he’s in for a scourging

I reckon if he does the same thing again, we’ll send Beast around to his house to panel him. Then again, Beast is far too much of a gent to do something like that. Better make it Sykes and Big Vic

  • There are more and more reasons every day that I’m glad I’ll only be able to see our Surrie Cup results and not the matches themselves.

Guys like this should be taken out behind the shed and……… well decide for yourself what to do behind the shed.

    - slaughter chickens
    - smoked
    - showed the interior of your underpants to the neighbours daughter.
At different stages of my youth. :)
