Here are a few thoughts that came from the post match interview with John Plumtree.
On the match overall: “I thought it was a very entertaining match to watch, the supporters really got their money’s worth. It was great football. Things got a little loose in our own 22m, especially after we got the bonus point. I’m pleased at the way we played the game, some 50/50 passes didn’t quite go our way. We conceded four tries, but all of them were runaway or turnover tries and there is no way to defend that. Basson was outstanding and they play towards him,”
Asked whether Pretorius was just backup: “I really wanted to play Pretorius, but the game got a bit close towards the end and I didn’t want to take Pat (Lambie) out of the game.”
Pat Lambie has now had a few games at flyhalf and his thoughts were: “Pat isgetting better with each game. He is a great footballer, passes well and is getting better at his kicking game. He will have to learn to rather kick when there is nothing on outside him.”
Asked about Bismarck’s injury: “Bismarck rolled his ankle and it will only be clear later what the extent of it is. It might end up being a sprain.”
Good news was that Plumtree confirmed that Gerhard Mostert was playing club rugby, and that Adi Jacobs was about 3-4 weeks away from getting back in the mix.

They surely won’t play Adi in this years CC? With only a few weeks left, I don’t think that would be the smart choice.

I think with Jacques Fourie playing great rugger and Jean De Jongh’s emergence, Adi’s bok dream may be over for good. Rate both of those guys ahead of him. PDV does have a soft spot for Adrian though. Be nice to have him back for the Sharks though.

JDV and Jacques Fourie are certainly 1st choice. JDJ is great cover as he can play 12/13.
That leaves WO fighting it out with Adi.. PDV also thinks Butch covers 12 (wrongly IMO) so would be little point in having JDV, JDJ, Butch and WO covering 12? But then again PDV has sprung the odd surprise hasn’t he!
At 13 we have Fourie and JDJ… And JDV can also play there if needed (but then you would be accommodating either WO or Butch at 12 I guess…).
Eish, ek weet nie. At least Adi hasn’t been overplayed!

Mole, I think you meant Adi for de Jongh. And no thanks: we don’t sell players just cos they are injured.
Adi has given his all for the Sharks and Boks, and not long ago everyone was singing his praises. Give him a chance on the pitch.
De Jongh is great though.

Look he is class, and has proved himself to be an asset to the Sharks and the Boks over the years, but IMO (I’ll probably be lynched for this) he is best suited to the final 30 min when the game opens up, so if I had the job of choosing a 13 to start for the Sharks it would be De Jongh every time – surely he has to be a little worried about the amount of game time he will get with JdV and Fourie proving once again that they are SA’s best centre combo..

seems Plum seesit the same way most of us do. THAT is the only problem I have with his game at the moment.
