Okay, now that I have most of you guys attention…here are their answers to the questions I have asked!
1. Name, nickname and where do you live?
OP: Pierre Botes (Original Pierre) , Cape Town.
FG: Corlandie Loots ( Flasher Girl), Cape Town
2. What do you do for a living?
OP: Retired got bored now I`m a student again – Unintentionally provide financial support to Sportsbet. . .
FG: Part time Model
3. Who do you support and why?
OP:Sharks, they took the Bulls out in the 90’s, when WP couldn’t. Sharks were way ahead on the marketing front that stage. James Small and Andre Joubert played for the Sharks. There was no other option, really..
FG:Sharks, cause my boyfriend told me to!!
4. What is your Dream team (old and current players)?
OP: Christian Cullen, James Small, Andre Snyman, Walter Little, Carel du Plessis, Dan Carter, George Gregan, Zinzan Brooke, Andre Venter, Mark Andrews, Robin Brooke, Richie McCaw, Adrian Garvey, James Dalton, Os du Randt. – I change my mind fairly regularly though, ask me again next week and it’ll be 15 different guys!
FG: Frans Steyn, Zack Guildford, Conrad Smith, Paul Bosch, David Smith, Patrick Lambie, Pierre Barbizier, Pierre Spies, Juan Smith, Ian Jones, Mark Andrews, Richie McCaw, Brok Harris, John Smit, Beast.
5. Which co-bloggers opinion do you value the Most? Why?
OP:KSA Shark and Richard Ferguson. Seems to know what they are talking about. Sometimes it gets too serious for me on the blog though. We need to relax and take the pi$$ more often!
FG: Original Pierre – if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t understand rugby at all.
6. What is the biggest sacrifice you’ve made to watch a rugby match?
OP: Drove from Bloem to Durban to watch a game when I was still a student and had huge cashflow problems. Had to phone my GF at the time for money so we could get back to Bloem that Sunday night. Then there was the time I send my GF up to JHB to attend a wedding on her own cause it clashed with the semi finals…That’s trust.
FG: Valentine’s day
7. Who is your least liked player?
OP: Used to be Derick Hougaardt, but Gerhard vd Heever seem to have gotten under my skin lately. Most Bulls players can elicit a not very PC remark from my side, doesn’t matter if they’re playing in Blue or Green and Gold. I’ve been known to support NZ against the Bokke if there’s not enough Sharks representation.
FG:Gerhardt vd Heever
8. Who are your favourite 3 players of all time and why?
OP:Andre Joubert – winning us a WC with a broken hand. James Small – cause he was the first cool rugby player I knew. Christian Cullen – he was always keen to have a go. The most exciting player O have ever seen.
FG: Francois Steyn – he is hot if he remembers to shave. Dan Carter – HOT HOT HOT. Pierre Spies – need I say more?
9. If you could have a blogger deleted, who would it be and why?
OP:Urhmm, this is a contentious question. Do I get indemnity? Probably Letgo. She has a problem with sexy avatars. Let’s just say she won’t like “the Sharks den” – that’s the bar in my house! LOL
FG: Not online enough to judge
10. If you could select a coach (past or present) to be with Your team – who would it be?
OP: Kitch Christie – he got the job done when it counted most. Currently I’ll opt for Jake White / Eddie Jones combo, but I’m happy with Plum.
FG: Jake White
11. How did you end up on SW, wasting valuable company time?
OP: Urmm – by accident I guess! Was unhappy when the official Sharks page took their comments section away and I searched for an alternative.
FG: Boyfriend referred me
12. Who is your favourite referee – current or old?
OP: Mark Lawrence – without a doubt!
FG: Mark Lawrence
13. Why Rugby ?
OP: That’s how I grew up. WP vs Northern Transvaal was a big deal back then. I caught up in the hype and never looked back.
FG:It’s brilliant entertainment and if you live with Original Pierre, you have to fit in, or ship out!!!!
14. How do you react when your team loses?
OP: Depends against whom.If it was an important one, send quick congratulory sms to friends then switch cell to “silent”. Don’t get into discussion about where we stuffed up till next day. Get your ducks in a row before facing the music. When we lost the S12 final I went straight to bed after the game, no further eating or drinking for me. Sulked for days on end, watched the repeat, saw who stuffed up for us and made a mental note never to trust him again. EVER. I still have a problem with Ruan Pienaar for example.
FG: If we deserve to lose, I accept it. I have to focus on getting my BF out of the pits of dispair, there is no time to mourn.
15. What is your most memorable rugby moment ever?
OP: Rugby WC 2007, maybe more because of the party afterwards than the quality of rugby. Also the 2008 CC we won was pretty special as I was in the company of some Bulls at the time.
FG: 2008 CC Victory for the Sharks
16. What is your favourite rugby ground?
OP: Newlands is definitely the most scenic, but the atmosphere in the Shark Tank was fantastic! Maybe it was just a nice change for me to have like-minded supporters around me for a change!
FG: Newlands – only live rugby experience ever.
17. What is your earliest memory of a live game – provincial or test match?
OP: Earliest rugby memory – Errol Tobias playing for the Bokke against NZ – I was too young to remember the score though.
FG: 2009 Newlands, WP vs Reds – live (Earliest memory – 1990)
18. If you could play – what position would suite you best and why?
OP: I played 13 at school but then the other guys kept growing and I didn’t. I guess if I had the talent and size on my side I would’ve liked to play fullback. The whole field in front of you, your choice where to link up with your line….But it comes with huge responsibility too.
FG: Wing, did 200m in a very good time!
19. Do you have any pre-match routines (home or going to the game)?
OP: Depends who the Sharks face. If it’s a crucial clash coming up, I e-mail my “rugby mailing list” to wind them up during the week. On game day, just the same preparations as anyone else I suppose. (READ: stock the fridge) In extreme situations I’ve been known to listen to Al Paccino’s speech in “Any given Sunday” to focus…LOL!
FG: Dress the part
OP’s Sharks Loyalty Testimony:
I was visiting with my in-laws in Snor City when the Sharks faced the Bulls back in 2008 (no – I have never been back to that house), this typical 120kg’s Bulls supporters, draped a Bulls flag over my car when I was not looking. I discovered it, yanked it off and proceeded to polish my cars’ mags with their flag. Gave them back the Bulls flag with some black and white stains. Guess I am not the most popular son-in-law! LOL!
