No Skeate against Pumas

Thanks to the ever-informative information source that is Twitter, Sharksworld has learned that Ross Skeate’s groin injury is more serious than at first suspected and he’s likely to be out of action for a few weeks yet.

Keegan Daniel has also posted some updates on his own injury situation and seems to be struggling with a sore ankle. While no confirmation has come out yet, I’d put money on him also being very doubtful for Friday’s game.

Fortunately for the Sharks, Ryan Kankowski has been released from Bok duty and should be available to slot straight in for Daniel. Anton Bresler should be expected to continue deputising for Skeate, while Gerhard Mostert can’t be too far away from making a return to the Sharks squad.

You can follow Ross Skeate on Twitter here and Keegan Daniel here. Other Sharks players using the popular service are John Smit, Beast Mtawarira, Anton Bresler and Justin Downey.

  • Between Bresler and Rhodes we have some awesome backup..

I wouldnt mind either or even both of them starting this weekend..

  • @Richard Ferguson (Comment 1) : I’m not hugely worried about the second row either, to be honest. I didn’t think we needed Skeate to begin with. He did make me change my mind with some good play, though, but we’ll still be fine without him for a few weeks.

It’s our options out wide that concern me more.

  • Wish them both a speedy recovery, Keegs got his ankle strapped up and wanted to continue playing but he just couldn’t run, he did walk to the bench though, so hopefully he will be better sooner rather than later

  • What’s the reasoning behind playing Daniel at 8 and Alberts at flank in these past few games?

  • @vanmartin (Comment 5) : Keegs is probably more suited to number 8 and Willem looks to be filling in Deysel’s blindside flank role

  • More importantly when is Ludik back? After Saturday don’t know if I’ll ever trust the team sheet again!

  • @robdylan (Comment 2) : The second row is a worry for me. Alistair Hargreaves gets rave reviews, but for what? He doesn’t bring any grunt or agression to the pack-as could be seen by his limp wristed tussle with Juandre Kruger on the weekend. one could argue that this isn’t really the job of a number 5 lock, but his line-out work is second rate. Ok, the guy is still young and all of that, but the Sharks need someone who can complement the much under-rated Steve Sykes. From the players we have in the squad, it has to be a fit Ross Skeate.
