The Sharks team to face the Pumas in Witbank on Friday night has been announced.
Captain Stefan Terblanche moves back to the fullback position he played for the Sharks last year, with Louis Ludik obviously not yet fit enough to start a game. Andries Strauss moves to outside centre and Riaan Swanepoel comes into the inside centre position. No other changes to the Sharks backline with McLeod and Lambie retaining their 9/10 relationship.
In the forwards, Ryan Kankowski comes back from Springbok duty to fill the number 8 jersey. With Keegan Daniel not on the bench, one can assume that his ankle needs the weekend off. Alberts and Botes remain the flanks and the locks remain unchanged. The front row is where we see quite a bit of change after the forced removal of both Beast Mtawarira and Bismarck du Plessis. In comes Eugene van Staden, Craig Burden and straight from the club scene Pat Cilliers. Wiehahn Herbst takes a rest and will surely make an impact from the bench, as will Kyle Cooper.
Michael Rhodes and Skholiwe Ndlovu will cover the second row and the loosies from the bench, with Rory Kockott and Andre Pretorius again collecting splinters. The 22 jumper will either go to Ludik if he is deemed okay, or with flyer Luzuko Vulindlu.

I’m very happy that Oupa is back at 15 for this game and Swannie has looked good recently when he’s come on….just shows you what it can do for a player to get dropped once in a while (hint to PdV) Pity it didn’t work for Rory though.
not sure I woulda gone with Strauss at 13, but this team has the goods to properly nail the Pumas.

Still a very good side, but I would swap Strauss and Swannie around.
We should win on Friday, if only because I’m not going to be at the game. Went to watch the Sharks/Pumas game twice in Witbank (with the stadium so full of Sharks supporters that it looked like KP) and both times we lost. And that was when the Pumas were way crapper than they are of late.
Solid span that. Should knock the Pumas over with relative ease (sry Bulls).
Possibly would have looked to give Sykes some time off.. That man has played a lot of rugga and let Rhodes have a run.
Lindque would have been an inspired choice too.
But no real complaints here.
I have this funny feeling that the bench mite change at the last minute.
So I guess Dumond was the complacent player???

I don’t think Herbst was dropped. I think Plum is just (understandably) nervous about having a completely green front row against the Pumas. van Staden needs to add some experience there.

Could hav taken this occasion to rest alberts a bit by playing him off da bench and starting rhodes. We really dont need him getting injurd aswell. Just a thought…

Plum has just stuffed up my week. I’m so used to Plum announcing his team on Thursdays that I got happy that tomorrow is Friday…..and then reality struck.
Good to see Stef at the back and Swanepoel coming back in.
Like the look of the 22, although midfield seems rather average. Not the biggest Strauss fan-his return to form of late still isn’t sufficient.
In Swanie the team has a player that can bash and pass, the man on his outside can’t do either. His option taking isn’t the best.
Glad to see that he’s off to the Cheetahs.
Would also give Rhodes a start ahead of Hargreaves.
