John Plumtree has named an unchanged match 22 to take on the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday.

This is a first time that the NZ coach has been able to this in the Currie Cup 2010, and as a result of no injuries, we will not see the return of either Jannie du Plessis or Gerhard Mostert.

The pack that impressed one and all against the mighty Cheetahs forwards have remained intact and will be looking forward to show that they are not one hit wonders.

Here is the team:

15. Louis Ludik
14. Odwa Ndungane
13. Stefan Terblanche (Captain)
12. Andries Strauss
11. Lwazi Mvovo
10. Patrick Lambie
9. Charl McLeod
8. Ryan Kankowski
7. Willem Alberts
6. Keegan Daniel
5. Alistair Hargreaves
4. Steven Sykes
3. Eugene van Staden
2. Craig Burden
1. Patric Cilliers

Replacements:
16. Kyle Cooper
17. Wiehahn Herbst
18. Michael Rhodes
19. Jacques Botes
20. Rory Kockott
21. Andre Pretorius
22. Riaan Swanepoel

  • @war1 (Comment 1) :

The final is on Friday right?

That means he will have to bench just in case something happens to one of the locks. Botes will be the loosies cover, and if there is a serious injury before Botes comes on, Alberts will shift to lock..

But very strange indeed, especially after all the talk of Jannie du Plessis coming back..

  • @war1 (Comment 1) : maybe Rhodes will be withdrawn from the Rovers team? I THINK he played for them yesterday, but it’s possible I could be wrong…

  • ok – I am guilty of not checking my facts.

Rhodes did not play for Rovers yesterday. He only played against UJ on Monday.

  • @robdylan (Comment 4) : @war1 (Comment 1) : Yip. By all accounts he played yesterday. They will surely withdraw him for Fridays game if he has to bench for the Sharks the following day…

What club does Mostert play for? Rovers? If so maybe they will swap them?
