Springbok and Blue Bulls centre Wynand Olivier will not be available for the Grand Slam Tour, which is due to kick off in just over two weeks’ time, following an injury.
Olivier will undergo surgery on his groin on Wednesday and will be out of action for 6 to 8 weeks. He will be forced to be off his feet and in bed for at least a month. The star midfielder for the Bulls will most likely still be available for the first Bulls game of the new SupeRugby tournament.
The injury was sustained during the Currie Cup and was treated so that the player could continue playing, but the decision was made to sort it out before the all important 2011 year, where Olivier will be battling it out with Jaque Fourie, Juan de Jongh and Jean de Villiers for position in the World Cup team to travel to New Zealand.Tweet
