The final Currie Cup Coach and Player of the month were awarded to the Sharks yesterday, as coach John Plumtree and loose forward Keegan Daniel won Coach and Player of the Month respectively.
The Sharks ended top of the log at the end of the league phase and went on to beat the Bulls in the semi final to book their spot in the final against Western Province on Saturday.
Daniel has been in outstanding form for the Sharks this season. The 25-year-old flank is the third leading try-scorer in the 2010 competition and has been one of the Durban side’s star performers during their campaign this year. He is one of five nominees in the category of the Currie Cup Player of the Year Award which will be announced at the annual SARU Player of the Year banquet on Monday.
Meanwhile GWK Griquas wing Bjorn Basson was also honoured at the awards ceremony held in Durban on Tuesday. Basson scored 21 tries this season and broke the Currie Cup try-scoring record of 19 that was previously held by Carel du Plessis (1986) and Colin Lloyd (2006).Tweet
