The Sharks Academy celebrated their 10th anniversary at an official function at the Durban Country club not so long ago, and has some more news to celebrate.
The Springbok squad that was announced at a press conference after the Currie Cup Final on Saturday included three players that are products of the Sharks Academy. Keegan Daniel, Pat Lambie and Lwazi Mvovo all came through the system at the Sharks and could be selected to represent their country for the first time on this tour of the United Kingdom.
“As a result of their great form throughout the Currie Cup competition it was certainly just reward for Lwazi Mvovo, Patrick Lambie and Keegan Daniel to be selected for their First Springbok Tour,” commented a very proud Hans Scriba, The Sharks Academy Managing Director.
Other products from the Sharks Academy currently in the Springbok squad are Beast Mtawarira, Ryan Kankowski, Alistair Hargreaves and Francois Steyn.
Top Sharks players to come through the Academy include JP Pietersen, Craig Burden, Steven Sykes, Riaan Swanepoel, Pat Cilliers, Michael Rhodes, Steve Meyer, Wiehahn Herbst and Zuks Vulindlu.
Over the past decade The Sharks Academy has produced 45 Sharks and 10 Springboks.Tweet
