Frans Steyn has been named at outside centre in the only change to the Springbok run-on fifteen to face Wales on Saturday.
Sideshow Bob (also known as Zane Kirchner) has dropped to the bench, where he will replace Adrian Jacobs. Sharks loose forard Willem Alberts will play in the number 19 jersey if he recovers from a calf strain. If not, Another replacement, most likely Keegan Daniel, will be named.

We gonna kill the Welch!
Will get the full team up in a bit. Just having lunch
Did Morne write this article?
The WP boys have been saying they would prefer to see Frans Steyn inside of JDV. That’s just sick man.
@Rahul
Hahaha!
ROB – The site is extremely slow in loading….you aware of that? Anytging you can do?
@Rahul (Comment 3) :
jaaaaaa…..suuuurrrreeee…You know Morne like to keep it short and sweet!
Frans will in all likelihood be at outside centre on defence and inside centre on attack. I can see a lot of inter-changing!!
@Sportbilly (Comment 4) :
We’re aware of the problem and looking into it
@robdylan (Comment 8) :
Thanks
With Frans on the field our kicking will be covered… I’m therefore hoping we take the lead early on so that Lambie can come on early in place of Morne.
Lambie needs the exposure and Morne needs the rest.
So the overrated ladyboy is back!!
Go Frans!!
@CS (Comment 10) :
Kicking at goal??
Last time I checked Frans was not the most accurate and his success rate is not that great!!
Remember 2007 S14 final??
@wpw (Comment 12) : Uh..remember 2009 TrinNations 13 Sept against New Zealand in Hamilton……..
Makes sense.
@wpw (Comment 12) : Now why did you have to go and do that. That’s just not nice!
@wpw (Comment 12) : No? My memory only goes back as far as the 2010 CC
@wpw (Comment 12) :
Haak jy alweer in 2007 vas??? If its not Habana, Its Frans…het with the times, Wessie – it’s the year 2010…
PS. I am glad I am not your wife, coz you look like the type that would dig OOOOLLDDD cows out of the ditch in every fight!
I’m happy with this team, would still have loved to see a few guys be given a chance, none the less, I’m looking forward to a competent game by the Boks and more game time for Lambie and Keegan or Alberts.
@wpw (Comment 12) : Remember those wins against Australia and New Zealand he secured with that very same ‘unreliable’ boot?
I have it on good authority that he actually has been practicing his kicking since that 2007 final.
Don’t tell me that MVOVO is not on the bench because of zane.
@Letgo (Comment 15) : Imagine a backline with Lambie, Frans Steyn & Juan de Jongh… and then through Aplon in the mix… all players that play what’s in front of them.
I reckon we’d even give the Wallaby backline a go in the “talent” stakes.
@CS (Comment 16) :
hehehe
I see there are quite a few Fransina fans here!!
@Ice-Cool CC Champ 2010 (Comment 17) :
Lets not get personal Ice!!
@wpw (Comment 22) : You’re out-numbered today
@wpw (Comment 23) : Is she calling your wife an old cow!!!
On a serious note. Anyone know if the Lambie try including that hand off on the former enforcer known as Schalk is available on youtube yet?
@wpw (Comment 22) : Let’s just say there have been far worse players donning the Green and Gold. Frans has actually delivered on some of his potential.
@wpw (Comment 23) :
I will not get personal if you will get to the present for a change and stop hanging in 2007!!
@Original Champion (Comment 26) : Yes it is…
van wilder
Frans is a good player no doubt. I have a problem with his attitude though!!
@Ice-Cool CC Champ 2010 (Comment 28) : let him go back to 2007 when the two sharks players won us the world cup percy and fransie!
@wpw (Comment 30) : First his boot, then his attitude… the smart money is a comment on his hair next
@wpw (Comment 11) :
@Letgo (Comment 15) : he is heart broken that the PROVINCE didn’t win WAS at THE hair dresser
@wpw (Comment 22) : yes
but Lambie and Mvovo is taking over me friend
@wpw (Comment 23) :
@CS (Comment 24) :
@CS (Comment 25) :
@vanmartin (Comment 27) :
@Ice-Cool CC Champ 2010 (Comment 28) :
@Ben (Comment 31) :
oh my and was that nt a good feeling
it is just soar grapes thats all just think of it this way if the WP did win i don’t think 4 one moment that the Province would let us reast after one very well played CC
@chaz (Comment 41) : Yeah what is it now, 10 years?
I just hope Keegs get more gametime. He really deserves it. Very worried that Hilda is going to pull another over Keegs, just like what happened to Shaun Sowerby. Get 1 test cap…… And can’t play for another country, like France, where he is an absolute hero.
This is a very capable team and we should be good for the win.
Having a dozen frontline players out and still manage a team like this ..we are sitting pretty imo.
If I have to find fault I’d have Mvovo on the bench. Although Basson didn’t really put a foot wrong I felt he didn’t look to get involved a bit more and was guilty on the odd occasion of ball watching.
It being he’s debut I guess he can be forgiven.Its also paramount that if Alberts is fit , he is on the bench.One of the most exciting appearances for me in a longtime in the Green and Gold.

@CoffeeShopBok;-) (Comment 44) :
I say this under correction, but I dont think it was Basson’s debut game.
@SharksRTB (Comment 43) : who,s Hilda?
bokke by 14
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 45) :
Basson had two caps before the game on Saturday!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 45) : you are correct, just checked the official SARU website and it was Basson’s third test.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 47) : Snap! Was it me or did the rugby365 player ratings also say it was debut?
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 45) :
Which games ?
@CoffeeShopBok;-) (Comment 50) : He played against Wales in June this year and one of the Italy tests as well.
@war1 (Comment 49) :
I actually heard it on Supersport during the build up for the game ..
or Im just losing it perhaps ..
@war1 (Comment 49) : i heard the same thing but really cant recall
@war1 (Comment 51) :
Thanks , missed both games thats why
@CoffeeShopBok;-) (Comment 52) :
You’re losing it!!
You are a Lions supporter after all!!
good : one change only so all my comments from the previous week are still applicable.
@wpw (Comment 55) :
losING it??????
He’s a Lions supporter they have lost it years ago and have continued losing it.
i am quite happy with the team. the tight five is pretty much the first choice.
you can have an argument whether john should not be a first choice hooker due to his captaincy and I think he is valuable as such. Matfield sometimes gets irritated with refs and I think it is to the prejudiceof the team.
loosies – fine. would have kankowski instead of spies though. or actually alberts can play 8 if fit.
would swop 12 and 13 or put steyn as 15 and benched aplon.
