  • @Richard Ferguson (Comment 13) : No well it can be condoned in most sports, but not ones where the competitors engage in separate scoring roles at different times. E.g. Soccer or rugby, whoever is ahead on the scoreboard is winning. Or Usain Bolt is ahead of everyone else so he’s winning. But you can’t say that in cricket.

  • @Richard Ferguson (Comment 18) : Same thing. When you’re in the lead (whatever the definition of lead is) then if the status quo remains, you will win. i.e. you’re in the process of winning. It’s up to the other team to change the state so that they are in the lead.
