The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has noted with concern the persistent media reports relating to the future of the Springbok assistant coaches.
Andy Marinos, the SARU manager for National teams said these media reports, the latest in a series of allegations regarding the future of members of the Springbok management, are all untrue.
“It is not the policy of SARU to react to rumours and allegations, but the persistent and irresponsible media reporting on the future of the Springbok assistant coaches the past few days have compelled us to put the record straight.
“These rumours are unfounded, unsubstantiated and factually incorrect. SARU President, Regan Hoskins has already stated there are no plans to form a technical committee and that this item is not on the agenda of our Executive Council meeting on Thursday,” said Marinos.
SARU will not comment any further on the matter.

Interesting stuff..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 1) : really?
@robdylan (Comment 2) :
Does not seem so..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 3) : well – it’s a slow day, news-wise, that’s for sure.
This is quite an interesting step, though… why go to so much trouble to deny something like this? Smacks a bit of someone like Andy C losing his rag a bit…
The SA media tends to beome a bunch of liars…
Me thinks he doth protest too much…
@robdylan (Comment 4) :
Where sis this all originate though. There were too many sources all aying the same thing, about the committee and so on, and then to now suddenly deny it..
I’m not so sure..
Why would SARU change anything? The tour was a success. The springboks laid down a marker for the world cup, they only lost to Scotland and unearthed some great new performers for next year, like Deon Stegmann. Why change a winning formula?
@rhineshark (Comment 6) : ja, that’s what methinketh also
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 7) : JJ Harmse wrote a story in Rapport on Sunday – that was where the “technical committee” idea was first mooted.
Also, the team scored more tries than they conceded on this tour with Willem Alberts scoring more tries than the entire backline combined. Morne Steyn proved once and for all that he can kick. Often. Jean de Villiers proved that in this day and age of specialization, backs can now choose to be attacking players or defensive players, but not both. Frans Steyn… well, see Jean de Villiers except tubbier, while Pdivvy settled the fact that South Africas failure in the trinations was due to them trying to play a different style of rugby (ie. kick and chase) from the traditional strengths of SA rugby (ie kick and chase). So thats all cleared up then.
@robdylan (Comment 10) :
So it comes from one Dutchman that most probably translated somethng wrong for the Republic of Pretoria, and thus the rumours?!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 12) : ooops
@robdylan (Comment 13) :
Very big oops.. Typical Afrikaner error..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 14) : you’re looking for kak
@robdylan (Comment 15) :
Shall stop right now.. Over and out
Pablo and Rich, you guys are funny.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 16) : he he… no, by all means carry on… so long as you’re prepared to see out the war!
Its quiete – whens this war going to begin?
Richard Ferguson (sounds like a soutie Pommie surname)
How dare you make fun of ‘my people’??
@Salmonoid (Comment 19) : look like the Scottish Dutchman picked the wrong day to have his battle!
Does anyone actually think Stegmann was any good, I must have been getting a drink from the fridge at that point?
@Pablo Dinero (Comment 11) : That was a really funny read. Enjoy your style!
btw for those that dont know
sharks(FS) andries strauss now a bok
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 14) :
@robdylan (Comment 15) : you think?
The thing is we should all know by now that SARU’s word is the only one we should believe. What a standup bunch they are!
We definitely need an injection of new blood in the management setup. Watching the Boks play the Blue Bulls up and under tactics shows a need for change.
