What would these survey results look like if we substituted the Welsh examples out for South African equilvalents.

The Welsh newspaper Wales on Sunday have just conducted an interesting survey of their knowledgeable rugby public after their autumn international programme. It provides an interesting insight into how they perceive their current national team set up, and how they rate their chances going into 2011 RWC year.

When looking at the questions they asked I immediately wondered how other rugby publics would answer if they too were asked for their opinions on their national teams.

Below are the ten questions asked and their corresponding results.

Wales’ autumn inquest – the results

5. How will Wales fare at the World Cup
They won’t get out of their group – 20.5%,
They will reach the quarter-finals – 60.6%, They will go further than the quarter-finals – 17.3%, They’ll win it – 1.5%

6. Which of the home nations do you expect to do best at the World Cup?
Wales – 22.5%, England – 65.9%, Scotland – 1.8%, Ireland – 9.8%

7. Do you expect Warren Gatland to still be coach after the World Cup?
Yes – 60.3%, No – 39.7%

8. What department of the Wales team concerns you most?
The lineout – 22.8%, The scrum – 0.5%, Creativity in the back line – 69.4%, The half-backs – 5.5 %, The forward pack – 1.8%

9. Do you expect Wales to beat England in the first match of the 2011 Six Nations?
Yes – 66.7%, No – 33.3%

10. Do we need Gavin Henson back in the Wales team?
Yes – 72.8%, No – 27.2%

An interesting insight from the rugby mad boyo’s from the valleys !
