South Africa take on India in the third and final test match of the series, which will also decide the outcome of the series. The test takes place at the Newlands cricket ground, where South Africa enjoy a rather good record.

The teams will be updated as they become known.

In other news, Imran Tahir, the Pakistan born spinner who has been South Africa’s most prolific wicket taker in the provincial scene, has been granted South African citizenship, and will be considered for the One Day Internationals against India only.

  • The weather in Cape Town is apparently a bit rainy this morning.

Here’s hoping the game gets underway on time.

  • Morning everyone.

Selectors making a mistake by not selecting Tahir.

India wins to the toss too. Bad luck that as it is overcast and we could lose early wickets. Hoping not though.

  • India have won the toss and will bowl first this morning.

Early swing on cards here as there was over night rain and is still overcast.

India have Gambhir back in place of Vijay at the top of the batting order.

Good toss to win for the Indians.

  • @Richard Ferguson (Comment 7) : Not really, they should be thinking of winning this test. Tahir has been brilliant and far better than Harris buddy. He should have walked into this test side. Mistake I feel by not selecting him.

See there was rain until after 8.30am there this morning. Now just hoping we don’t lose a wicket before lunch, sun should be out by that time and pitch will be better.

He was not in the original squad, so he would not have played.

Have any of you noticed that Harris is 15th on the ICC Test bowler rankings?

Tahir is not the be all and end all, he will not solve all our problems overnight.

Any of you saw Butch play for Bath last night?

Only saw the first few minutes and Butch missed a crucial tackle!!

Speculation is rife on 365 than Butch will join the Lions before end of super rugby season!!

Having Beast, Rory, Murray and Butch run out against us will suck . ..

  • Imran Tahir is a spin bowler, so he will have little or no input on any first innings anyway. South Africa have and will always put all their hope in fast bowlers.

To be honest also rich I can’t see why he wouldn’t have an impact in the first innings harbajan comes on n does damage..

Even kevin pieterson was saying he prefers playing with tahir cause he knows he won’t be out in the oval for long..shane warne tought him to how bowl the googely too..so
