New SA under 20 coach Dawie Theron has named two teams to play against each other in a trial match in Cape Twon, at 16h00 on Saturday. Sharks fans will be hard-pressed to chose a team to back, since there is a good old smattering of black-and-white lasds in both teams.
The squad currently comprises 40 players and this will be cut down to 30 ahead of another game against Western Province next week.
The trial match on Saturday will see the yellow team, featuring a Sharks-laden three quarter line, come up against the blue team. Ten reserves will be shared amongst both teams. Piet Lindeque, Heimar Williams and Mandla Dube all start for the yellows, along with loose forward Marcell Coetzee and tighthead prop Nick Schonnet. Representing the blues are livewire flanker Siseko Jafta and fullback Jaco van Tonder, a late addition to the trials squad.
Huge Hilton College winger Emil Schwartz has been named among the backline reserves.

Had the pleasure of meeting Ulrich Beyers during the Boxing Day test in durban. Nice chap, friendly or maybe it was because we all were a bit drunk at the end of the day.
Played and won with the U19 WP side last year and is a pretty good acquisition for the Bulls. wish the sharks signed him up instead.
@Jeremiser (Comment 1) : fullback?
Lots of good’uns there, though… van Tonder, Gouws Prinsloo, Wynand Pienaar, Kieran Goss…
i can see Lindeque and Williams being our future centre pairing…
@VanWilder (Comment 3) : yes, me too.
Everytime you blink, Theron’s squad seems to change.
I think the most interesting selection is Tim Lane’s son Sam at flyhalf. He’s usually a centre. I wonder what his kicking out of hand is like.
@Jeremiser (Comment 1) : Any idea why Beyers left WP? He looked pretty well set there.
@beet (Comment 5) : I see Jordaan has disappeared as well… guess he’s with the Blitzbokke
just to say – I love new format
@rekinek (Comment 8) : thanks!
Rob
Did u know there are TWO Shroeder’s at WP and both are scrummies!!
I think Ricky was WP UWC last year and the other dude, Schreuder was with the SA U20′s! You know the one that’s absolutely pants!!
@wpw (Comment 10) : yes – I don’t know much about Ricky (except that he was in Silver Spoons) but i think Louis is kakka
@wpw (Comment 10) : @robdylan (Comment 11) : Schreuder vs Schroeder.
I apologise in advance for this lame post, but I googled the names to see if they had different meanings. Anyway it turns out their origins are the same, the only difference being Schreuder may also be Dutch.
Basically it states: This German surname was derived from the Middle German word ‘schroten’ meaning ‘to cut’, and was the name given to a tailor.
In reality the 2 scrummies / leaders couldn’t be more different in appearance. Schreuder being a fairly tall, skinny, fair complexion, serious character & Schroeder is very short, a little more meat on the bone, dark complexion, friendly always looks he’s enjoying himself.
Dig the new layout buddy! Looking good!
Where are the trials – are we allowed to go watch?
I am sure the format will grow on me….
@beet (Comment 12) : So it’s the same as Snyman (or Snyders?)
@Rob – like the new site
@Just a Fan (Comment 14) : Jan van Riebeeck Hoër… any idea where that is?
@MysticShark (Comment 15) : thanks – so far it’s only Klempie who doesn’t, but he’s generally the exception that proves the rule.
