South Africa face India in the 4th match in a series of five games, where India lead 2-1. South Africa will have to play out of their skins to win this series while India are on the verge a historic victory in South Africa.
Rumour has it that Tahir will replace Parnell in this match. Teams will be updates as soon as we know.

PE is probably the home ground where the Proteas have the worst record. The ground should suit Tahir if he plays.
If SA lose in this series again, then I’ve lost all hope
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 2) : We have always gone into the world cup looking great and then we choked….maybe this time we’ll go in looking bad and we might just win it.
@Pokkel (Comment 3) : I hope you’re right.
Peterson picked ahead of Tahir!
Sorry but these selectors are a bunch of jokers.
ROFL
SA have won the toss and have selected to bat
Morne van Wyk and Robin Petersen come into the team for Colin Ingram and Wayne Parnell
Im glad Faf retains his place.. but to play Petersen ahead of Tahir is just a joke!
India have played 4 games in PE, losing all four, including a game against Kenya..
Idiot selectors leaving our Tahir again, especially in PE. Damn fools. Why the heck have Tahir in the squad then?
Pleased Van Wyk gets a chance, but Tahir should have as well. Fools those selectors.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 9) : But this Indian team are far better the the previous teams that have toured here.
Ag, just angry that Tahir has not been given a chance. Really was looking forward to seeing what he can do at this level.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 8) : geez, tahir, if ever, deserved a starting spot today. i`m not a big fan of petersen… hope he proves me wrong today.
Is Tahir our new savior or what, cricket like rugby is a team sport the whole team needs to step it up.
Apparently St George’s only has power for the floodlights. Box owners are going to be sitting in the dark.
I love this country.
They’re using the old style scoreboard cos the electronic one isn’t working. This is massively embarrasing. LMAOO
@klempie (Comment 14) :
Haha.. that is rather sad!
Reserved start from the openers.
SA 10/0 after 5 overs
2 consecutive maidens..
How the hell can Tahir be in the world cup squad – he has not even played a game for the Proteas. I can only concur that the selectors think that he is a genius and does not need any international exposure before the biggest stage he will have played on for the first time in his life. But then if he is that good why hasnt he been selected earlier.
Looks like the power is back on.
@Salmonoid (Comment 18) : Cos they’re morons.
@klempie (Comment 14) :
@Salmonoid (Comment 18) : Can’t see Tahir getting selected for Centurion either. Thought this would have been the game he would have got selected.
@klempie (Comment 15) :
Cricket South Africa is massively embarrassing, have you been following the latest shenanigans re the IPL “bonuses”.
Amla batting well.
Amla just 2000 ODI runs..
50 up.
Excellent start this considering the pitch.
47/0 after 9 overs.
We doing better so far than we done in Cape Town.
Hope it lasts.
50 partnership! St Georges park must have the best atmosphere from all other stadiums. Including rugby abd soccer.
@Salmonoid (Comment 23) : Dude I could get into my own personal dealings with them but might get fired.
50 partnership! St Georges park must have the best atmosphere from all other stadiums in SA. Including rugby and soccer.
Biff goes with a stupid slap to mid off. Harbhajan does well to get there.
57/1
@klempie (Comment 20) :
Remind us who is the Convenor of Selectors??
Isnt he a former Natalian??
It figures!!
Amla is the fastest player to 2000 ODI runs.
Great man!
@klempie (Comment 31) :
Biff was struggling the whole innings..
van Wyk in at 3.. Good ploy this!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 33) :
It took our man 40 innings to get to 2000 runs, the previous record was 45 innings..
@wpw (Comment 32) : Yes but he has to work with the walking ego that is Graeme Smith, who is most probably the real factor that Tahir has not had game time yet. Hudson helped select the squad, the captain has massive input into the team that plays on the day.
@wpw (Comment 32) : I know.
@Salmonoid (Comment 37) : Ah. Another Biff basher rears its ugly head. This ego story is complete and utter dog sh!t. If it’s true, he’ll be the first narcissistic cricketer to give up captaincy despite still being in form.
Hash 50 at 94 SR.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 36) : Amazing, well done.
So he is not a walking ego trip….yeah right.
@Salmonoid (Comment 42) : What gives you the impression he’s got a massive ego? How often do you see him in the media in matters not involving cricket? Answer: Never.
Shane Warne is an example of an ego trip. As is KP and any number of other professionals. Calling Biff an egotist is just silly.
@klempie (Comment 43) : An egotist within a cricket context,(team, opposition) but he certainly is not media shy either. Give me KP any time, warts and all but with charachter, same goes for Warne.
@Salmonoid (Comment 44) : OK. Within the cricket context, what gives you the impression he’s an egotist?
The fact of the matter, is that people are still looking at him through the same glasses they were 6 years ago when he was young and trying to prove a point. He’s a completely different captain now, and in my opinion, the best we’ve had since readmission.
van Wyk fails.
LOL What’s with his backlift??
@klempie (Comment 45) :
You misunderstand me. Im not questioning his talent, captaincy, batting, fielding or anything related to cricket for that matter. No doubt he will go down as one of our greats.
@klempie (Comment 46) :
Amla run out. Stupid runout.
@Salmonoid (Comment 47) : What makes him an egotist though?
@klempie (Comment 49) :
Duminy to rescue the ship again…
SA 111/3
@klempie (Comment 46) : @Salmonoid (Comment 48) : Where are you watching?
AB stumped/caught behind. Really, this Proteas side is awful.
Here we go again. Useless plonkers. Hopefull FAF can get us to a respectable score.
@Salmonoid (Comment 52) : I’m at home boet. Had the trots the last day or so. Safer to work from home.
The frenchies to take us home..
Jean Paul Duminy and Francois du Plessis
@klempie (Comment 50) :
Are you coming to Cpt sometime.?
@klempie (Comment 55) :
Always convenient when a cricket game is on the go.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Another run out!! These Proteas are an absolute joke! LMAO
Looks like the Proteas don’t even need a reason to panic.
@Salmonoid (Comment 57) : I’m down there frequently enough. Why? Are there road signs directing people to “Biff’s House” from CT International?
This is ridiculous..
Last 4 overs – 13/4
So that’s 4 wickets in 3 overs. Awesome stuff. LOL
Either we’re running a huge deception strategy to make other sides think we’re as useless as we seem ahead of the World Cup, or some guys are making a quick buck off the bookies, or we’re simply as useless as we seem.
@rhineshark (Comment 65) : I suspect the former. It goes hand in hand with our strategy to spring Tahir as a surprise.
@klempie (Comment 61) :
No but there are to my place.
@Salmonoid (Comment 67) : LOL who’s the egotist now??
@klempie (Comment 66) :
Tahir is the one thats going to be surprised.
@rhineshark (Comment 65) : Well said. I feel probably the latter two is correct
@klempie (Comment 66) : It makes sense out of a general South African sports management viewpoint to spring someone as a surprise when they’ve never played any international sport and then expect said “undercover wunderkind” to make an impact.
Afterwards, when we inevitably fall out in the quarter finals, we’ll see the tears and hear the excuses. SA sport is one long feeling of Deja Vu.
@klempie (Comment 68) :
Ahhaaa, competition.
@Puma (Comment 70) : I also have that kak feeling
Not even worth watching the rest of this game. Really disappointed in our team.
We will never beat India in India if we can’t beat them on home turf, also can’t see us beating England, who are also in our pool.
@rhineshark (Comment 73) : Yip, I do too.
@Salmonoid (Comment 69) : @rhineshark (Comment 71) : Totally.
At least this time around, I won’t be left with the feeling that we choked.
@klempie (Comment 76) : That’s bloody sad in itself.
Hopefully the Duminy can perform a miracle.
50 partnership off 65 balls.
Well so far Duminy and Botha are holding it together.
Botha stumped. Silly.
@klempie (Comment 79) :
I see the captain deemed it necessary to busy himself (and by default the team) with CSA’s internal politics, even taking sides. Not wise when in the middle of a series and getting ready to take on the cricketing world.
Botha out, think that is us done.
@Salmonoid (Comment 82) : Why not? surely you would want all of that stuff sorted out before you depart for the World Cup? That’s leadership for you.
@klempie (Comment 81) : Yes standing way out. Thought maybe with Botha and Duminy still there we may get to 220/30 that would be defendable on that pitch, but now can’t see that happen. Unless Steyn or Peterson can get some runs.
@klempie (Comment 84) :
or he was badly advised.
Thats madness, it has nothing to do with the players, the world cup or anything else – its board politics. Either he thought his opinion was needed
200 up with about 10 overs to go.
@Salmonoid (Comment 86) : To say that organisational politics has nothing to do with the players is fairly naive.
@klempie (Comment 84) :
Leadership would have been ensuring that Tahir had got a game already.
@Salmonoid (Comment 89) : True. But even Hansie made mistakes.
@klempie (Comment 88) :
Obviously it does in the long run – but not, as earlier mentioned, while in the middle of a series and specifically on the eve of the world cup. Also choosing sides is not too wise.
@Salmonoid (Comment 91) : No one likes a fence sitter.
@klempie (Comment 92) : Or a busy body.
Im outta here, it was nice chatting. I hope I can catch the last few overs. Cheers all.
@klempie (Comment 90) : Some BIG oneS.
Cheers.
@Salmonoid (Comment 93) : Later Sammy.
Okay we reached 220 now just need to bat smart in this powerplay. No need to go big, think that way we will lose wickets. Just keep the ones ticking over.
@Puma (Comment 96) : Fortunately we’re bowling under lights.
Duminy 50.
Well played Duminy.
50 Partnership off 58 balls.
@klempie (Comment 97) : Still not sure if this is enough Klempie. Hoping, our confidence will have taken a knock this series. Not good that going into the wc. We win this one and the next then maybe we go with some confidence.
I reckon had we won in Cape Town, Tahir would have played today. They needed to select Peterson so we could bat further down the order. Still wish Tahir had got selected. Now can’t see him getting selected for Centurion unless we lose this one they may, cause then we have nothing to lose. Fools I think we should have had him playing in Cape Town already.
@klempie (Comment 100) : Yeah, they batting okay. Pity about the top order all falling apart.
Nother runout. Calling is shocking.
Time to hit some shots boys.
Duminy 6!!
OK. India need 266. I suppose that’s a decent score given the circumstances.
265/7
We should be able to defend that.
@klempie (Comment 106) : Far better than I thought we would get Klempie. If we can’t defend that then we really are useless
Quite a high total that for PE. So just hoping now.
@Puma (Comment 107) : Now you’ve gone and done it…
@klempie (Comment 109) :
What was JP’s score??
@wpw (Comment 111) : Think 64
@wpw (Comment 111) : Sorry wpw, JP got 71
klemps
Just pray that Rob doesn’t make an appearance on this thread!!
India will have to get the third highest second innings score at St George’s to win.
@klempie (Comment 115) : They may, but think we should win this one. Well said that on Saturday and we lost so have to wait and see.
@wpw (Comment 114) : No thanks to you tempting fate…
Rohit gone.
1 for 1
Two fours in the over from Kohli
SA squeezing the Indians quite nicely atm.
Lopsy traps Patel dead!
32/2
Bowling PP called.
Morne with a maiden!
Great bowling effort from SA. They’ve restricted India 3.16 per over for the first 12 PP overs. The required rate is up to 6 an over already.
Here comes Botha.
This seriously good bowling.
Flat six by Yuvraj slapped from outside off over midwicket.
BIFF!!!! WHAT A CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATCH!!!!
That is AMAZING!!
Yuvraj goes.
That’s the end of the PP. They’ve been restricted to 3.26 an over during that period.
BRILLIANT CATCH BY SMITH…
@klempie (Comment 127) : That was a something else that catch Klempie. I thought no way he was gonna get it and he did.
Now we could win this…
HAHAHA!! There’a Jack Parow lookalike in the crowd.
69/3 after 20.
Kohli 50.
RAINA STUMPED!!
112/4
@klempie (Comment 134) : Damn missed that coming to the pc.
Was just going to say if we don’t take a wicket soon, India could still win this. Pathan a big hitter, so hope we bowl smart now. Dhoni still to come in too.
Good Morne back to bowl.
Dhoni in before Pathan, thought Pathan would have come in. Both great batsmen. Have to keep it tight.
Dhoni slaps one to short mid wicket.
123/5
Morne nicks Yunis off.
128/6
Dhoni and Pathan went quick. Thought they would have been around much longer. Great now don’t think India will win this, only the rain could save them.
with their low run rate the rain wont help
@juba_fan (Comment 141) : Yip
@juba_fan (Comment 141) : The only way the rain will save them is if the rain don’t go off. Then they wont come out to bat again. = draw.
Hope not, hope the rain goes off. Not sure how much rain is coming down there.
@Puma (Comment 143) : Sorry have it wrong there, think if there is 20 overs played rain still wont save them. We will win it.
@Puma (Comment 144) : Yeh.
@klempie (Comment 145) : So it can rain then
All to play for at Centurion, but think there is rain forecast for the whole day there.
@klempie (Comment 145) : Going to log off Klempie, not sure if the covers will come off. Looks like plenty rain there. Also plenty rain forecast for Sunday in Pretoria, so think this series will be a draw.
Hope we play better in the wc. Just a pity Tahir never got a chance to have some game time with the team.
Cheers buddy.
@Puma (Comment 147) : Later.
Play under way again.
123 are needed off 86 thanks to Duckworth/Lewis
Raining again.
And they’re off after 8 balls.
Game over. SA win by 48 runs (D/L)
Ching Ching! Saw this one coming a mile away hehehe
” I just want to thank Sharksworld for focussing my attention on the cricket, er my good friends Ishmael and Clint over at Sportstbet and . .. what`s that the music? Okay I`ll bugger off”
Robdylan or whoever runs this site,i have a idea , tell me if you think it will work and if you would join in.
Each website pick a panel of selectors on each independent Blog site, Ruggaworld, WTR, Sharksworld and Bloubulblog, not sure if the Cheetahs have one, and then every week each panel picks the team of the week in the Super Rugby competition. We almost do it like Planet rugby does it, then add the 5 teams votes and pick a combined Super team of the week. We can either pick a team of only SA players or a team from all.
If we come up with a tie the convener will have the final vote. Or The incumbent player after the 2nd round stays in the combined Blogs team of the next week.
Sharksworld appoints its own selection team and sends the chosen team to me or who ever wants the job to compile the votes and work out who is in the team.
Let me know if you are interested and make more suggestions.
@superBul (Comment 155) :
I need some sort of award for not airing my opinion about the 1st blog you listed there.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 156) : and therein, I suspect, lies the problem
@robdylan (Comment 157) :
@superBul (Comment 155) : Super – let me send you and email about this… what mail address should I use?
