Cricket: SA v India ODI 5

I don’t know much about cricket, but I gather this is an important game…

The series is tied up at 2 games each, making today’s one-dayer a series decider. Pretty sure it’s in Pretoria, but I could be wrong.

Whatever the result, I’m sure rugby will be the winner.

  • @Tintin (Comment 42) : Not sure if we will ever be firing on all cylinders. Our bowling has been fine it is out batting that we are out of sorts with. Maybe once Kallis is back we could be better.

One positive though, Faf and Van Wyk can bat some. So that is a positive, but the rest not too sure. Would have really liked to see how Tahir performs against a top side. Think we missed something by not giving him a game here. Looking at the almighty collapse we just had, we could have played Tahir today.

  • @Puma (Comment 43) : You’re deff right, Kallis back and it changes the balance completely, but we got 6 good batters that should beable to perform on flat sub continent wickets with small wickets, they just need to take more resposiblity…30/40′s are not on, once your in you have to make it count

  • Comment 46, posted at 23.01.11 14:41:14 by Tintin Reply

  • @Tintin (Comment 46) : We have now got a better balance with batters, well until our almighty collapse I thought we did..

Kallis will make a difference. Think Van Wyk will get the nod to start ahead of Faf, cause he can keep. AB will keep but if he gets injured you need another that can keep. So think it will be Van Wyk and not Faf to start. Faf can bowl a bit but nothing great. We do need a spin bowler that takes wickets. Tahir is our man, and the selectors just can’t see that.

  • @Puma (Comment 47) : Yeah i think that would be ideal, gives us a bit more fire power at the top, i’d be temped to play Kallis at 5 or 6 in case of the 95 for 5 syndrome, Smith, Amla, Van Wyk, De Vill, JP with Kallis as insurance looks good. Tahir has bowled to quality opposition in county for years…he’s a class player…maybe we want to use him as supriss package (remember how the poms kaked themselfs when gogga come on the seen)

  • Well done to our boys for winning the ODI series….definitely gonna be in trouble in the world cup if our middle and low order batsman don’t learn to keep their heads on their shoulders. I know Kallis will be back, but we definitely need Boucher too. It is just craziness to leave him out of the WC squad!
