Frans Ludeke has named a second-string team to take on the Southern Kings in a Super Rugby warm up game this Saturday night. Derick Kuün will captain the side from the number 6 jersey.
Boks Jaco van der Westhuyzen (fullback) and Akona Ndungane (wing) add some experience to an otherwise green line-up, with tighthead Werner Kruger also having worn the green and gold, although not in a test match. The unavailability of Chilliboy Ralepelle at hooker as necessitated some shuffling, with a fellow Pretoria Boys High boy, Henry Bantjes starting and former Lions and Griquas rake Hansie van Dyk coming onto the bench.
Here is the full team:
Jaco van der Westhuyzen, Akona Ndungane, Stephan Dippenaar, Stefan Watermeyer, Sampie Mastriet, Francois Brummer, Ruan Snyman, Gerrit-Jan van Velze, CJ Stander, Derick Kuün (capt), Juandré Kruger, Fudge Mabeta, Werner Kruger, Henry Bantjes, Dean Greyling.
Replacements: Hans van Dyk, Frik Kirsten, Cornell Hess, Tendayi Chikukwa, Okkie Kruger, Dustin Jinka, Louis Fouché, Bradley Moolman, Courtnall Skosan

A secnd string team for a second string match..
Can’t say I would put my TV on to watch this match.
So Brummer will be Steyn’s understudy?
@KSA Shark © (Comment 2) :
It seems so.
He is okay.. but nothing really special there.
Steyn is going to have to play a shit load of rugby this year!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 3) : I just hope we already have the RWC trophy in the bag WHEN he breaks down.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 4) :
Thats concerning to be honest.. because you are right, its a case of when and not if..
What if they force the Bulls to rest him, reckon the Bulls will be quite pissed..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 5) : There was an article on either N24 or 365 about the SRugby coaches agreeing to give the Bok management full access to the players during the SRugby series. And my immediate thought was whether or not that access included requests to rest players.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 2) : Yes Ludeke has committed to this publicly. There seems to be general consensus up there that Brummer is a better player his main rival than Marnitz Boshoff, despite Boshoff keeping him either out of the u21 team or out of position for just about the whole compo last year.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 3) : I tend to agree with you. Brummer had a bad second half of 2010 but can’t forget he was the Vodacom Cup player of the 2010, so there is something there to work with + he’s only 21.
Go The Kings!!!
@KSA Shark © (Comment 6) :
I saw that. My first thoughts were whether Jon Smit will be told to bulk up, Lambie encouraged to play centre / fullback.
I cant imagine Plum being very enamoured with anyone having much say over his players, especially with the treatment that F Steyn, Ruan and more recently Smit have been through while on Bok duty.
