Allister Coetzee, head coach of the DHL Stormers, today named his team to take on the Highlanders at DHL Newlands on Friday.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee told The Official Stormers Website that “It’s great to welcome back Gio and Jaque Fourie into the match 22. Both have recovered fully. Unfortunately we lost Connie who has a slight Achilles strain – he will be assessed as to his availability for next week’s game on Monday again.”

“It’s a long competition and we will manage our athletes accordingly. Jaque Fourie plays off the bench with Paul Bosch falling out of the 22. Juan deserves another start and will wear the 13 jersey. It is great to have the luxury of replacing injured players with starting Boks! ”

“In the other change to the backline, Dewaldt will wear the 9 jersey this week. We have 2 good scrummies, but Dewaldt deserves a start this week after some solid performances from the bench. ”

“The rest of the starting line up remains the same. ”

“On the bench we have bracketed Frans Malherbe with JC. Frans has a bit of flu and we will make a call on him after the captains’ practice on Thursday. ”

The team is as follows:

15. Gio Aplon
14. Danie Poolman
13. Juan De Jongh
12. Jean De Villiers (C)
11. Bryan Habana
10. Peter Grant
9. Dewaldt Duvenage
8. Duane Vermuelen
7. Francois Louw
6. Pieter Louw
5. Andries Bekker
4. Rynhardt Elstadt
3. Brok Harris
2. Deon Fourie
1. CJ van Der Linde

Reserves:

16. Siyabonga Ntubeni
17. Frans Malherbe / JC Kritzinger
18. De Kock Steenkamp
19. Nick Koster
20. Ricky Januarie
21. Gary Van Aswegen
22. Jaque Fourie

  • I Hope Januarie has been dropped and is not being rested. if these guys are taking the highlanders lightly they are going to get a HUGE klap.

  • Only if there is a dip in form for one of these teams and a MASSIVE upturn in form for the other.

I need not mention which team requires what. :)

  • This one should be interesting.

Are the Stormers any better than the Bulls? They`ll need to be if they want to keep up with the front runners . . .

  • WP knowledgeable please help :!: The player I’ve come to know as Frans Malherbe over the past few years is now being called Joshua :?: :?: :?: (by the commentators) Why :?: The teamsheets always reference him as Frans.

  • @KSA Shark © (Comment 1) : I’m not buying into this cover up comment 1 of yours KSA Stormers. I couldn’t help but notice how the quotation marks came to an abrupt end in paragraph 3 of your article, making paragraph 4 and in particular the use of the word “we” and the reference to the 2 good halfbacks your very own words.
Come to think of it your “Sharks” jersey icon is also starting to look a little suspicious. I’m pretty sure the line marking on the jerseys in the stores aren’t nearly as blue as the ones on your jersey.
