The Cheetahs have named Wilhelm Steenkamp as their fifth captain this season after an incredibly unlucky string of injuries to their skippers.
RUGBY365 reports that Steenkamp steps in for the injured captain number four, Andries Strauss (groin), who is on his way back to Bloemfonein along with Frans Viljoen (hamstring) after the two were injured during the historic 23-3 victory over the Waratahs.
The Cheetahs have already lost first choice captains Juan Smith and Adriaan Strauss through injury, while the third skipper of the season ,Naas Olivier, was axed and two weeks ago and finds himself on the bench.
Former Stormers centre Corne Uys takes over from Strauss at inside centre, while the only change to the team is also on the backline, where Wilmaure Louw starts on the left wing in place of Fabian Juries.
Surprisingly there is no place in the side for star scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius, who must make do with a role off the bench for the second week in a row.
However, Heinrich Brüssow came through last week’s match unscathed and is in the line-up once again together with Ashley Johnson and Phillip van der Walt in an exciting young loose trio.
