Bulls ready for Lions

The Bulls have named their team to take on the Lions in Pretoria on Saturday evening, with two changes from the team that played last week, both being injury enforced.

Front rower Gurthro Steenkamp has been ruled out of rugby for at least 6 weeks with an arm injury and Zane Kirchner has been forced out with a shoulder problem. They have been replaced by Dean Greyling and Jaco van der Westhuyzen.

This is the second leg of the cross-Jukskei battle after these two teams faced off in the opening round of the competition, which the Bulls won 24-20.

The Bulls have lost their last two matches and the Lions lost their outing against the Force last weekend, so both teams will be hoping to bounce back with a win. This should be a close affair with the Bulls not looking their potent self.

Bulls:

15.Jaco van der Westhuyzen
14.Gerhard van den Heever
13.Jaco Pretorius
12.Wynand Olivier
11.Bjorn Basson
10.Morne Steyn
9.Fourie du Preez
8.Pierre Spies
7.Dewald Potgieter
6.Deon Stegmann
5.Victor Matfield (C)
4.Bakkies Botha
3.Werner Kruger
2.Chiliboy Ralepelle
1.Dean Greyling

Replacements:
16.Gary Botha
17.Rossouw de Klerk
18.Flip van der Merwe
19.Danie Rossouw
20.Derick Kuun
21.Francois Hougaard
22.Francois Brummer

  • Should The Bulls win – which I believe they will, it will be no reflection on them – The Lions are poor this season. They have showed signs of getting there, which they do every year… The Lions lost to lost to The Force, which was unforgivable – they should have been revved up for that one.

I want The Lions to win, but cannot see that happen, expect an ugly game that could boil over with the “battle boks” in the Bulls team take home the scraps.

They are long in the teeth, but their teeth are bigger… Its a dog eat dog world and I have bigger teeth than you – This will be the mentality of this game.

Should The Lions win, this would be a bigger upset than ‘Tahs losing to The Cheetahs.

Matfield: We believe in our structures and our game plan, we have the players and our system is there – we need to be more accurate at the breakdown, and our discipline needs to be addressed.
Journo: But Victor you said that last week
Matfield: Ja, no for sure, but we have the structures and our game plan is solid, we have the players and our system is there…

Surely The Bulls can see that Kick/Chase doesn’t win games anymore?

    Come on LIONS!!!!

Coverdale has the vocal chords of a god and the ego of an A-hole (his version of Soldier of Fortune still brings up goosebumps). Jon Bon Jovi is a marvelous singer (and a good kisser!!! ) but the best ever, for ever and a day, is Freddy Mercury. There will never be anyone to top him.

Richie and Diana Ross sang it as the soundtrack to a movie of the same title from the early 80s. (as close to Soft porn as we got in those days)
