Stefan Terblanche is on the brink of becoming the first player to play 200 games for the Natal Rugby Union, after playing 112 Super Rugby matches and 87 Currie Cup matches in his career so far.
The legend will lead the team out, whether he is captain on the day or not, and take the field in his 200th game in the Black and White. It is quite an achievement and we salute you Stefan!
Apart from this record for the Sharks, he has the personal satisfaction of playing 400 first class matches, from his start for Boland in 1994 to his current 2011 contract with the Sharks, with 37 Test matched under his belt, 87 matches for Ospreys and a sprinkling of Under 21, Midweek Bok games and even three appearances for the Barbarians.
The top five in first class appearances in South Africa stands as follows:
1.Stefan Terblance – 400
2.Ollie le Roux – 357
3.Albert van den Berg – 338
4.Victor Matfield – 337
5.John Smit – 323
We would like to wish Stefan all the best for the match on Saturday, as well as for the rest of the season as he stretches that record to a point where one has to wonder if someone will ever catch him.

King Riaan
You were lekker windgat all of last week before the Sharks vs Stormers game ma nou is jy tjoepstil nuh??
@Greg (Comment 8) : if you beat us this weekend with good rugby this weekend, im gonna be pissed, but if u then lose to the stormers again next week by playing shitty…………
@wpw (Comment 9) : well, i can remember a few windgat province supporters doing the same thing before and after the cc final last year…
@Greg (Comment 8) : i have got a bad feeling about this coming weekend. you guys tend to keep your best performances for the sharks games…
@willa (Comment 10) : If we beat you this weekend playing good rugby, I will be very happy, if we lose to the stormers next week by playing shitty …….

What a player. What a career.
@Greg (Comment 12) : seriously now, everyone was on the edge of their seats for the coming season (lions supporters you know…), and after a few rounds, whats the feeling now? you guys seems to play better than previous years, but still the wins keep going past hey? wheres the problem? kickers? inexperienced players?
Congrats Stef your truly a legend.
Great thing about having him in your team is he almost never gets injured and he’s one of the fittest players out there.
Stef – the legend, says it all.
Congrats on an amazing milestone. May it be a memorable day.
@VanWilder (Comment 14) : While better kicking could well have won us some of the close games, I have always believed that while you can win games by making your kicks, you don’t lose games by not making them. For me the problem lies a little in inexperience, the inability to make the correct decisions on the fly, the inability to vary the play when the time calls for it, which results in a lack of confidence. This then compounds itself, because there is no-one on the field with 200 games to their name to be the calming influence. Panic then sets in, and the game gets away from them.
@Greg (Comment 17) : The lions need Butch James badly nowm
nice!!! i see we change the things thats been working all year, and leave all the problems as they were, backline for sharks remain the same
@willa (Comment 19) : This was the perfect opputunity to give Adi and Hoffman some good game time!
Very interesting to see only one of those top 5 did not play for the sharks….
@Ben (Comment 20) : 100%, charl has been under preforming for the last 5 games or so, and i dont really rate adi that high, but atm the backline seems very……whats the word?
@willa (Comment 22) : Daft?
@Ben (Comment 23) : more like non existing
@willa (Comment 24) : Don’t think I can keep on defending JLP for too long, he needs to get his shit together.
@Ben (Comment 25) : true, the same for bosman
@willa (Comment 26) : Personally I don’t think Meyer is doing to badly. Stef on the other hand needs to lift he’s game.
@Ben (Comment 27) : His game.
Congrats Oupa, hopefully another 200 to come !!!
@willa (Comment 19) :
You`re kidding right? Surely our backline won`t be the same?
< rush off to check the odds on Sportsbet >
@Ben (Comment 27) :Could it be that the people around him affects the way he excecute?
@Ice (Comment 31) : I think your spot on.
@Ice (Comment 31) : The service from JLP has been pretty useless. And Stef doesn’t really have the pace to keep up with meyer and stay on his outside channel when Meyer makes a line break.
Charl McCleod needs Rory challenging from the bench for his position. With no challenge there he’s gone off the boil.By lying deep we dont extend to the touchline and they are getting around us. In the Stormers game they nearly always outflanked us.
@Caratacus (Comment 34) : Haha living in the past are we?
Have an Awesome 200th game , and many many more to come
SHARKS FOREVER
When one thinks of Stef, one has to admire his discipline, his professionalism, his dedication, his competitiveness… Lets be real 35 is not old, you are in your physical prime and Stef knows it, he can be proud. Congratulations sir one helluva career.
@DarkDestroyer (Comment 37) : to think that he ousted James Small and still he plays!
Awesome!
All the best Stef: one of the last of the old guard.
Stef. You’re my hero. The man who demonstrates on a weekly basis that talent should not be defined by the age of the body that contains it! Dankie Oom!
One of my all time greats…..you are a LEGEND……
