Former Sharks and current Lions flanker Michael Rhodes has been cited for foul play during his team’s 33-19 loss at the hands of the Stormers.
It is reported that Rhodes has been cited for a dangerous and late on the Stormers fullback, Conrad Jantjes. He is alleged to have transgressed Law 10.4 (O) when, whilst airborne, he charged into Jantjes’ legs first after the fullback had made a clearance kick.
The hearing with take place at the Golden Lions Rugby Union in Johannesburg on Monday 18 April 2011.

I did not see the incident..
Was he carded? How bad was it really?
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 1) : I didn’t see it either. only saw from the end of the 1st half.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 2) :
This is my 7000th comment.. Woohoo..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 1) : I saw the replay it didn’t look too bad. If they keep to the standard then it certainly didn’t warrant a red card. Doppies was the only guy carded in that game.
@war1 (Comment 4) : Agree – it looks like he was already airborne, and hurt himelf more than Jantjies when he landed in a pile of limbs.
Feeesh
Its actually ‘Jantjes’ not ‘JantJIES’
@wpw (Comment 6) : Technically BF could be right.
He DID hurt himslef more than he hurt either Jantjes OR Jantjies.
Who to pick for lms this week?
@wpw (Comment 6) :
My apologies.
@Honey Badger (Comment 8) : Show off.
What a boring week this was with the Sharks not playing! With the evidence I saw in the Cheetahs vs Hurricanes game, I think the Sharks will smash the Canes this coming weekend. Their defense are a big weakness.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 10) : The funny thing is,I thought you had to pick all the winners each week or your out and I started with the landers and after that I could not choose anymore and was like wth!
@Honey Badger (Comment 12) :
@Honey Badger (Comment 12) : That is what makes it so EASY. You only have to pick ONE winner each week.
What could be easier?
Good morning all. May all of u SW bloggers have a blessed week. This week we celebrate the most important week on the christian calender. May you, in some way or another experience love joy and piece within this week.
@franshark (Comment 15) : Thanks Franna, may you have a great easter holiday as well.
@franshark (Comment 15) : Thanks mate. And the same to you as well.
SHOCKING! They cited him for that?! There was absolutely nothing wrong with that incident – he tried to charge down the ball!
I cannot believe the citing system. They let punches and high tackles go unpunished but cite clean outs and charge downs?
I have to wonder if the Stormers don’t have some people in the pocket because none of their high tackles or punches have been cited, yet every time somebody in SA is cited it is when they played against the Stormers.
he charged into Jantjes’ legs first after the fullback had made a clearance kick.
Should that apostrophe perhaps be a comma or not there at all? Punctuation saves lives.
Anyway, it was a reckless challenge. Even if there was no intent.
@King Shark (Comment 18) : I reckon the Highlanders lead the way when it comes to punches not cited. By quite some distance too.
@franshark (Comment 15) : Xmas already?
@King Shark (Comment 18) : I must agree with the fact that the siting is shocking. Rhodes clearly tried to pull out of it and evoid htting Jantjes. But then Jantjes pulled his soccer acting skills from school and went down like a little girl.
@McLovin (Comment 21) :
Xmas is business. Easter/Passover is religion. Accept the wish in the spirit it was given.
@Salmonoid (Comment 23) : It’s all business old bean.
@Salmonoid (Comment 23) : Seeing as we’re dishing out religious wishes, Happy New Year to all the Theravada Buddhists out there.
@McLovin (Comment 24) :
To some maybe, not to all.
Not my place to question someones core beliefs especially if they wish me peace.
Another place, another day.
May all the the Hindus have a joyous Hanuman Jayanti.
@Viking (Comment 22) : Jantjes took a knee to the jaw, went down and then shook it off.Hardly milking it dude.
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 28) : Jantjes should be cited for trying to bite the guy.
bloody Stormers get away with murder.
@Viking (Comment 22) : Have some coffee (yes, you may follow me to the kitchen) and then read that post again…
@King Shark (Comment 18) : yet every time somebody in SA is cited it is when they played against the Stormers
I take it you have some stats to back that up?
@KSA Shark © (Comment 29) : If it had been a NZer he would have been.Rhodes has just been found not guilty of any wrongdoing
