Scrumhalf Fourie du Preez is one of three players returning to the starting line-up of the Vodacom Bulls for their match against the Western Force in Perth on Saturday.

According to the Bulls’ official website Du Preez, Deon Stegmann and Jaco Pretorius replace Francois Hougaard, Derick Kuün and Stephan Dippenaar respectively from the side that lost to the Reds, with Hougaard moving to wing at the expense of Gerhard van den Heever.

Kuün and Dippenaar moves to the bench, where Jaco van der Westhuyzen has been included in place of Akona Ndungane and Flip van der Merwe in place of Francois Brummer.

“We are very aware that our chances to stay in contention for the play-offs are fading. We respect the Force, but the only thing we are talking about this week is winning,” coach Frans Ludeke said.

The team (with Super caps) is: Zane Kirchner (47), Bjorn Basson (17), Jaco Pretorius (43), Wynand Olivier (80), Francois Hougaard (21), Morné Steyn (81), Fourie du Preez (107), Pierre Spies (64), Dewald Potgieter (39), Deon Stegmann (47), Victor Matfield (117,c), Bakkies Botha (93), Werner Kruger (50), Chiliboy Ralepelle (27), Dean Greyling (7).
Replacements: Gary Botha (79), Rossouw de Klerk (6), Flip van der Merwe (26), Danie Rossouw (108), Derick Kuün (64), Jaco van der Westhuyzen (57), Stephan Dippenaar (16).

  • I went with the Bulls on SB but I wouldn’t mind a Force win here.

  • From news 24 Jaco Pretorius is included but could be a doubtful starter with a neck strain, with Stephan Dippenaar, who played last weekend in the 39-30 loss against the Reds, bracketed to replace him if he cannot pass a fitness test on Friday

  • Go Force! Bulls to play like they played against the Saders and lose this one by 10 points. That’s what I’m hoping for

  • From the Bulls site.

Jaco Pretorius has been forced out of the Vodacom Bulls clash in Perth on Saturday and will be replaced by Stephan Dippenaar.
Pretorius did not recover from a strained ligament in his neck; an injury sustained against the Crusaders two weeks ago, which means that Dippenaar will resume his midfield partnership from last weekend with Wynand Olivier.

Francois Brummer will replace Dippenaar on the bench.

The revised Bulls team for the weekend (with Super caps) is: Zane Kirchner (47), Bjorn Basson (17), Stephan Dippenaar (16), Wynand Olivier (80), Francois Hougaard (21), Morné Steyn (81), Fourie du Preez (107), Pierre Spies (64), Dewald Potgieter (39), Deon Stegmann (47), Victor Matfield (117,c), Bakkies Botha (93), Werner Kruger (50), Chiliboy Ralepelle (27), Dean Greyling (7).

Replacements: Gary Botha (79), Rossouw de Klerk (6), Flip van der Merwe (26), Danie Rossouw (108), Derick Kuün (64), Jaco van der Westhuyzen (57), Francois Brummer (3).
