Just a quick update from my side to let our loyal readers know that I am very much alive and well and have just arrived in beautiful Umhlanga.

After a whirlwind 10 days in Gauteng that saw me unable to spend very much time on the site – owing in no small part to my somewhat futile attempts to drink ALL of the Windhoek Lager while in town – we’ve relocated to the somewhat more sedate KwaZulu Natal coast and will be chilling at the awesome Breakers resort for the next week.

Fear not – I’m pretty sure there’s Windhoek here too and I’m off to go and find some soon. Anyone who’s in town for the Hurricanes game, let me know and we’ll make a plan to meet up at Kings Park afterwards.

  • Windhoek, best beer(lager) in the world! I would just like to take this moment to thank Namibia for producing such an awesome beer(lager). Haha :)

  • @robdylan (Comment 3) : You should try Windhoek’s seasonal beer: The Urbock. It’s dark and malty and delicious, packs quite a punch too. Not cheap, but its a speciality beer.

By this weekend you should be a regular Saffa rugby supporter, perfect for the after match festiviities.

  • @CapeShark (Comment 4) : In Germany they brew it in May and it’s called Maibock. Lovely stuff, but kicks like a mule

  • @Ben (Comment 1) : Beg to differ there bru! It definitely beats a lot of beers, but calling it the world’s best is a bit of a stretch.

But having said that, I’m sure there a millions of beer lovers who think my favourite beer (Jever) tastes like sewarage ;-)

  • @Ben (Comment 5) : It’s done by the Windhoek crowd (Namibian Breweries), it’s brown label with gold writing and features a ram as the logo. It’s got a lovely dark, malty taste. The small corner shop might not have it but the big chains definitely will in season. http://www.namibiabreweries.com/brands/beer_fl.php
