Planet Rugby report All Black fly-half Stephen Donald returns to the Chiefs starting XV for Saturday’s Super Rugby clash with the Lions in Johannesburg.
There are four changes to the run on side that lost to the Crusaders last week.
Scott Waldrom starts in the loose trio in place of the injured Tanerau Latimer. In the second row, Craig Clarke comes into the side for Isaac Ross, who drops out of the matchday squad.
Up front, Aled de Malmanche starts at hooker ahead of Hika Elliot, who drops to the bench.
Apart from Donald, who takes over from Mike Delany in the pivot role, the back line is unchanged.
Bay of Plenty loose forward Sam Cane comes into the team on the bench. Hayden Triggs returns from injury this week in the number 18 jersey.
Earlier this week, Tana Umaga sustained an injury to his calf while training and has returned back to New Zealand.
“We have settled in well in South Africa and we are preparing for a real battle against the Lions,” said Chiefs’ Coach Ian Foster.
“They too have had some tight results go against them so it promises to be a tense game.”
