Are we in for a treat this Saturday or what?! A cracker New Zealand derby followed up a cracker Australian derby, and even though Australian derbies are generally boring as watching sheep all day, this match could be slightly different, taking into account the teams facing each other.

The Reds have now won six games in a row and are looking for a new recod seventh win, and the Waratahs will have to improve from their showing against the Blues last weekend to break the streak.

We should be in for a great game and the team that wins today will take the extra points in the Australian conference and it comes down to an eight point game for these two who are fighting it out for the top spot.

The Reds feed on confidence and will be too full of running for a Waratahs team that need to step up after the hammering they took last weekend.

Reds: 1. Ben Daley , 2. Saia Faingaa , 3. Guy Shepherdson , 4. Rob Simmons , 5. James Horwill (c) , 6. Radike Samo , 7. Beau Robinson , 8. Scott Higginbotham , 9. Will Genia (vc) , 10. Quade Cooper , 11. Digby Ioane , 12. Mike Harris , 13. Anthony Faingaa , 14. Luke Morahan , 15. Ben Lucas

Replacements : 16. James Hanson , 17. Greg Holmes , 18. Adam Wallace-Harrison , 19. Leroy Houston , 20. Liam Gill , 21. Will Chambers , 22. Dom Shipperley

Waratahs: 15. Lachlan Turner, 14. Tom Kingston, 13. Ryan Cross, 12. Tom Carter, 11. Drew Mitchell, 10. Kurtley Beale, 9. Luke Burgess, 8. Wycliff Palu, 7. Phil Waugh (Captain), 6. Ben Mowen, 5. Sitaleki Timani, 4. Dean Mumm, 3. Sekope Kepu, 2. Tatafu Polota-Nau, 1. Benn Robinson

Replacements: 16. John Ulugia, 17. Al Baxter, 18. Kane Douglas, 19. Dave Dennis, 20. Patrick McCutcheon, 21. Brendan McKibbin, 22. Daniel Halangahu

  • I am certain this will be a hardfought match, but doubt that it will be exciting.

The Reds and Waratahs have low scoring games if my memory serves me correctly.

  • Waratahs really messed that one up ,on the reds line for 20 minutes ,surely with 20 minutes to go why didnt they take the penalty ???
Also ,had that been the bulls, forwards would have worked a good position and the drop goals go over…

Reds forwards played well however their one weakness is their set piece scrum.

  • @VinChainSaw (Comment 53) : You’re putting word in his mouth now and cocking it up.

We are wanting (wanted) the Reds to lose so that there was abetter chance of a Saffa side topping the table ensuring a home final if that team made it through.

Your support of the Reds indicates that ending top of the log has no importance to you.

And who said Stormers fans were becoming more clever.

And I want them 1st and if not them then another Saffa team (probably the Stormers) to top the table. It irritates me that you can’t see that if/when the Reds won it would make that so much harder to achieve. Then you decide that us not wanting the Reds to pull away at the top of the table makes us provincialistic????

I want the Sharks to top the table overall. If we can’t get above you then we obviously won’t but how us wanting the Waratahs to stop the Reds from pulling away makes us provincialistic only you will be able to fathom.
