Tonight we might see a once in a lifetime, real life fairytale ending to a season, when the Argentinean Pampas XV take on the defending champion Blue Bulls in the final of the Vodacom Cup.

The Pampas are unbeaten in this season and have already taken the Bulls to the cleaners, and will be hoping to end their three month stay in the Republic still unbeaten and with some extra baggage to take back home.

The Pampas XV overcame the Sharks XV in the semi final last week while the Bulls had to beat a strong Griquas team to be able to play in the final. The game kicks off at 19h00.

Pampas XV: 1 Bruno Postiglioni,2 Agustín Creevy,3 Maximiliano Bustos,4 Benjamín Macome,5 Mariano Galarza,6 Miguel De Achával,7 Julio Farías Cabello, 8 Leonardo Senatore,9 Martín Landajo,10 Nicolás Sánchez,11 Juan Imhoff,12 Agustín Gosio,13 Gabriel Ascárate,14 Román Miralles, 15Joaquín Tuculet.

Blue Bulls: Clayton Blommetjies, Sampie Mastriet, Stefan Watermeyer, Francois Venter, Hayden Groepes, Marnitz Boshoff, Ruan Snyman, Gerrit-Jan van Velze (c), Marnus Schoeman, Okkie Kruger, Juandré Kruger, Cornell Hess, Stephanus Pretorius, Zane Botha, Morné Mellett.

Replacements: Henri Bantjes, Corné Fourie, Mthunzi Mabeta, CJ Stander, Dustin Jinka, Wesley Dunlop, Bradley Moolman.

  • Thats the problem with bull supporters. When its the bulls playing they expect all to support them because they will support your team. But of all the bulls fans i know, none have shown support for my team?!

Nothing against the Bulls (the senior side is often great to watch), but this Pampas side deserve the Cup – such passion and great play.

They taught the Sharks XV a lesson last week.

Stuart Berry is a good ref – communicates well. Reminds me a bit of Kaplan.

  • Pampas would do well at super rugby. They should play Currie Cup next year and maybe super rugby in 2013

Marius Joubert is playing tonight after the VC final. Want to see if he is still in form.

Anyway, congrats to pampas. They had a great season and certainly showed us how rugby should be played. Their defence was superb, its great to see a side that consistently go into the tackle so low.

  • @Mocho (Comment 41) : you’re supporting a foreign team against a local team. Aurely you can’t argue that if you do it in your home, instead of at the ground, it is OK?

Whether you attend the game with a jersey or not, it isn’t very patriotic.

What I’m saying is that if you, or anyone else, supported Pampas tonight, you can’t criticise the saders supporters at newlands.

  • @rekinek (Comment 53) : I think it will be beneficial to the Springboks, as it would if he came back home to Durban. It’s just really tough to see a player with whom we’ve developed an affection for as fans playing for an opposition team, especially one who would be first choice if he was still with the Sharks. Unfortunately if it happens, we can do nothing about it.
