Stormers and Bok prop CJ van der Linde has failed to recover from a groin injury and will play no further part in his side’s Antipodean tour.
The big tight head joins a growing list of Springbok injury casualties that now includes Fourie du Preez, Jannie du Plessis, Odwa Ndungane, Adrian Jacobs and Heinrich Brussow, not to mention Juan Smith and Ryan Kankowski, who went down earlier in the season. The Stormers have additionally had to make do without Peter Grant, Jean de Villiers and Jaque Fourie at various stages on their tour, but should welcome at least some of those big names back for this weekend’s clash against the Brumbies in Canberra.
Van der Linde will be replaced by Frans Malherbe in the touring squad, with Brock Harris and Wicus Blaauw expected to be the Stormers’ starting props this weekend.

Poor player management can be blamed for some of these injury’s.
This should significantly bolster the Stormer’s chances for the remainder of the tour; CJ is in my not-so-humble opinion definitely in the top three most overrated players in SA rugby.
@ Ben: this is NOT a Sharks thread buddy!
@Culling Song (Comment 2) :
I totally agree with you on that point.
Culling Song
I agree 100%. Still can’t believe he has over 50 test caps.
They do have both Jean de Villiers and Jacque Fourie back from injury!!
@ Richard: You forgot to mention the other plus!
Ricky is in the form of his life.
@wpw (Comment 7) :
Morning Wes!
You make a very good point, and I am sorry I forgot to mention it..
Just yesterday I chanced the prediction that it wont be to long before more injuries are going to be picked up by players. And now on one day I hear about FdP (Springbok), JduPlessis (Springbok), Odwa (uhm, Springbok?), Adi (Springbok) and CJ (Springbok). All the recent injuries were to Springboks as well, with Peter Grant in the blogs being toted for a Bok/3N call up.
Hey Rich.
Just don’t ever do it again, ok??
@wpw (Comment 5) : CJ is to the front row what Jorrie Muller was to the back line… 50 caps for CJ is a mystery on par with Beyoncé’s continued popularity
I will have know that Big Fish is a HUGE fan of Beyonce.
@wpw (Comment 12) : Nobody’s perfect… but damn! that’s a big-ass personality defect to have to carry
@Culling Song (Comment 13) :
Big Fish is a big fan of R&B….well he can’t be perfect in EVERY way.
@wpw (Comment 12) :
At it again, hey Beetlebum?
@Culling Song (Comment 13) :
I’m not a fan of her rubbish music, but your mention of “big ass” is apt: bootylicious!
@Pokkel (Comment 14) :
Et tu Brute?
Yes, I’m a fan of R&B and hip-hop. Big fan of soul music too. But I also like rock, folk (Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens), blues (Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf) and a few other genres.
Just not heavy metal.
You’re missing a trick there; heavy metal, particularly of the extreme (death, grindcore and black) varieties make for a far more fitting soundtrack to the Sharks endeavours on the field – the one makes your ears bleed, and the other, your eyes.
@Culling Song (Comment 16) :
LMAO!
You are right! The closest I got so far was Paint it Black. Not enough depth of despair on that one.
Hope AC have enough guts to start our Ginga youngster from Paul Roos. He can rest Jean & Mossie aswell and start JdJ & Sadie. Important that our Bokke get enough rest and youngsters reward for good play like these three.
@Culling Song (Comment 16) :
Comment of the Week !
@Culling Song (Comment 2) : PREACH
@wpw (Comment 12) : I dont like beyonce – but she has a kick-ass new video! Check it out – some hot dancin’ momma’s on there!
