Two current Cheetahs Super Rugby squad members have signed contracts to join Italian club Aironi on completion of this year’s Super Rugby competition.
Flyhalf Naas Olivier, a former Western Province player who spent a bit of time with Auch in France before returning to play for Griquas and utility forward Frans Viljoen, also a Griquas player, have been snapped up ahead of the new European season. Both have struggled to find regular starting places in the Cheetahs team this year.
In better news for the central franchise, though, ace scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius looks likely to extend his stay, with rumours of a move to the Waratahs having been rubbished by the Australian team.

Viljoen also earned 10 Caps for his french club while winning the top14 trophy 6 or 7 years ago.
How long has Riaan Viljoen got left on his Griquas contract?
How long is JLP’s contract at the Sharks? He is not getting game time and the Kwasse is now in need of a flyhalf
@Jarson (AddicteD) (Comment 3) : I’ve been pleasantly surprised by JLP’s ‘growth’ given his limited playing time this year. We shouldn’t be too hasty in sending him packing.
@vanmartin (Comment 4) : I’m not sending him packing, I’m anticipating another move from him
