Brussow on WP’s shopping list

Western Province are looking to build a very strong loose forward trio as news filtered through that Rassie Ersasmus at co are making a massive offer to bring Heinrich Brussow to Cape Town.

It has been reported that the Western Cape Union has offered the Cheetah and Springbok flanker between R2,5 million and R3 million to make the move south after the World Cup in New Zealand later this year.

Brussow’s contract comes to an end at the end of this season, and will be seeing quite a few offers come his way over the coming months as a result of this.

Brussow will most certainly play a role in the Springboks pre-World Cup Tri Nations campaign as he has not been ruled out with some or other injury.

Another Cheetah, although officially contracted to Griquas, who is targeted by the Cape franchise is Riaan Viljoen, who is reportedly in talks with Rassie himself in a possible move.

More on this as news breaks.

  • Brussow will be like Juan Smith he will stay at the Cheethas no matter what, as for Viljoen I hope he stays at Griquas because he won’t fit in with the Stormers game plan

  • And they claim that we’re Free State A? At least we bought players like the du Plessis brothers, Pienaar, Frans Steyn, et al before they were big names.

  • When they do reach for the chequebook it’s usually to jot down a really big number.

  • I would be happier to hear that WP/ Stormers had secured a player like BJ Botha, and or Butch James.

Rumours doing the rounds in CT that Brussow has actually signed already, but nothing confirmed..

  • @grant10 (Comment 9) : That makes sense. Sitting around on a bench does nobody’s career any favours…
Can’t help but thinking we may be overrating the youngster a bit. He only played a couple of games.
Guess we’ll find out next year.

  • @CapeShark (Comment 11) : Cape news yesterday mentioned that Brussows agent said that he was being targeted in SA and abroad but the WP were not part of it.
