Blue Bulls coach Pine Pienaar has named his squad to take on the Sharks at The Shark Tank on Saturday.
The side, which features 3 Springboks in Gary Botha, Akona Ndungane and Dewaldt Potgieter has a very young and inexperienced feel to it and will be captained by hooker Gary Botha.
Pienaar is of the opinion that Gary Botha epitomizes Bulls rugby and will lead from the front, also he is well respected as a senior member of the squad and the youngsters will easily take to his leadership style.
The team is: Jurgen Visser, Gerhard van den Heever, Stephan Dippenaar, Stefan Watermeyer, Akona Ndungane, Francois Brummer, Dustin Jinka, Gerrit-Jan van Velze, Dewald Potgieter, Derick Kuün, Juandré Kruger, Fudge Mabeta, Rossouw de Klerk, Gary Botha (c), Corné Fourie. Replacements: Willie Wepener, Juan Schoeman, Okkie Kruger, CJ Stander, Lohan Jacobs, Marnitz Boshoff, Francois Venter

man … who to pick in super bru ….
any idea when the shark team will be announced ?
Is this a Bulls team
We should be able to take this side comfortably!
Sharks by plenty!
Im keen to see how Jinka does.
@Villie (Comment 3) : that’s what I am thinking – but you never know.
I would make Potgieter captain – Botha is not looking into future at all.
WILLIE WEP
Lovely to see him back, specially not in a Tvl jersey. Should be a nice and relaxed opener for the Bulls.
think that we will win the game by 10. don’t expect us to come out blazing from the start. can’t wait for the game. a weekend is so boring without the sharks playing.
Easy LMS pick… SHARKS
@Zibbie (Comment 1) : normaly only thursdays
Pienaar is of the opinion that Gary Botha epitomizes Bulls Rugby
Young team. Making Botha captain is dumb though. Although, having seen “Pine” Pienaar (what a kak name) it doesn’t surprise me.
@franshark (Comment 9) : Brave man.
I won’t be picking the Sharks Bulls game on LMS.
@PTAShark (Comment 12) : Thats a bit personal.
Having an off day, sorry.
Dunno guys… I wouldn’t be to quick to write off this team.
@vanmartin (Comment 16) : Agreed. They have more than capable midfield and outside backs. then they have a good pack as well.
This is not just far from a foregone conclusion for us, this game might actually be an almost certainty for THEM.
Young team I think the captain that can keep his team motivated will take this one
@KSA Shark © (Comment 17) : i think if we are honest with ourselves than the conclusion is that even depleted Sharks are far better on paper than this team.
I am all against complacency – but no excuses for the Sharks to lose it.
@rekinek (Comment 19) : I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve seen our team.
We should have a good chance, but we can’t just write these guys off.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 11) :
@KSA Shark © (Comment 20) : I want to see all the teams before I make my picks, still have to finalise my FL squad aswell.
Marnitz Boshoff, one step* away from starting
One step = 10min of Pine Pienaar watching Francois Brummer stuff up to realise he’s made a selection error
@KSA Shark © (Comment 11) : this may just be the case.
Exciting times for the Bulls IMo now – time for youngsters to shine (not Gary Botha
@beet (Comment 23) : Is he a Natal boykie? Do you rate him?
@beet (Comment 23) : i thought Brummer was good. Did ok in Vodacom Cup, didn’t he.
@speartackle (Comment 25) : No, he’s Pumas, went to Nelspruit. His bru is Ruan Boshoff of Lions fame.
I have a year long running battle with blue machine about who is better between him and Brummer. It has little to do with player form now and everything to do with winning a battle.
@rekinek (Comment 26) : He was 2010 Vodacup player of the year but spent most of this year as MS no 10 backup for SR
@beet (Comment 27) : I like this site, have you noticed I talk more sense here?
@beet (Comment 28) : What’s MS and SR
@speartackle (Comment 29) : That’s because this is an awesome site
@rekinek (Comment 30) : Morne Steyn, Super Rugby
@JarsonX (Comment 32) :
@rekinek (Comment 30) : Sorry Rekinek. Taking shortcuts on my phone.
MS – Morne Steyn
SR – Superugby
I think Brummer is overrated. Muzi is Blue Machine and is bound to have something to say about this since he’s believed that Brummer is the next big thing in Pretoria ever since he was awarded Vodacom Cup player of the year.
@speartackle (Comment 29) : Acid Test will be the first WP article. Then I want to see you keep it all together.
@beet (Comment 35) : No, I’m trying to like WP, don’t make it hard. Will ignore the article.
@beet (Comment 34) : i also though Brummer quite good to be honest, but I guess now that he is promoted to the starting spot we will be able to have a better look.
@rekinek (Comment 37) : Going home now, will speak again after the Grey/Kloof game. Nervous as hell.
Lions and WP teams has also been released.
@speartackle (Comment 36) : Who do you support?
If we can beat this tarded bulls team think of the high the younger guys will have for the rest of the season
Just a question: Is the coach’s name Pine, as in the ‘pine tree’ or am I being a soutie and not pronouncing it properly? Weird name anyways
So it is a young Sharks side vs a young Bulls side. I think the Sharks will win though because of home ground advantage as well as the fact that I think our team is less young, has more experience and our young players have more experience than the Bulls young players.
GO SHARKS!!!
@CapeShark (Comment 42) : I think you pronounce it as Pien.
