DHL Western Province coach has named his squad that will travel to Profert Olen Park Potchefstroom to face the Leopards on Friday night.
Western Provinces flyhalf curse seems to be fit as a fiddle as young Gary van Aswegen was ruled out for 8 weeks with yet another knee injury, the pivot was last week praised for playing some creative rugga, stepping and jinking long last seen in a hooped jumper. His injury opens the door for young Ikey flyhalf Dimitri Catrakilis to get a starting berth while Isma-eel Dollie warms the bench.
The pack remains relatively unchanged with only Rohan Kitshoff getting a start ahead of Wimpie vd Walt who drops out of the 22. Nick Fenton-Wells, another Ikey(their captain) also gets a well deserved callup on the back of consistent Varsity Cup form.
Louis Schroeder falls to the bench for the experienced Dewaldt Duvenage who has returned from an ankle injury, Duvenage is also the teams vice captain.
Coetzees squad looks to tie in with what he has been preaching about developing the WP youngsters, after last weeks draw against Griquas he stated that he had handed out 8 ties after the fixture, the ties being handed out to players making their first Currie Cup appearance.
The DHL Western Province team is :
Team: Jantjes, Poolman, Sadie, Whitehead, Engelbrecht, Catrakilis, Duvenage, Koster, Kolisi, R Kitshoff, Steenkamp, Lobberts, Harris, Fourie (C) , Blaauw
Reserves: Liebenberg, Malherbe, Fondse, Nic Fenton-Wells, Schreuder, Dollie, Brache

Great news for Fenton-Wells!
Interesting, thought they would go for Duvenage @ 10…
@Franshark (Comment 2) : Nah, Schreuder is a flop
Fenton-Wells? Is he mates with Dawson-Squibb?
What about Caruthers-Whetherbottom and Furley-Blunderson?
pack your fantasy league side with these boys… they’re gonna score tries!
Really wish they had dropped Brok. He needs to be taught his priorities again.
@molly (Comment 6) : drop him for whom?
@robdylan (Comment 7) : Malherbe/Kitschoff, I don’t know which one usually plays which side. Even JD Moller would be acceptable. I’m that desperate for Brok to learn that centre and flyhalf are NOT positions he should be standing in.
@molly (Comment 8) : poor boy isn’t a very good prop, is he?
Something funny going on with him,though, because for just 3-4 weeks during the Super 15 he actually started to look like something. I’m afraid he regressed at an alarming rate, though.
Can’t wait to see Chadwick have him for breakfast!
@robdylan (Comment 9) : Yeah, for a while I liked him too, but then the big games come and he just reminds us that maybe we still have the “light 5″ label firmly attached.
@molly (Comment 10) : you have a better forwards coach now, at least, but a great workman can also only do so much with substandard materials…
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 3) : I coulda told you that last year already
@robdylan (Comment 12) : so glad we let you guys take Hoffman
Although I must say, I don’t mind the look of Groom at all.
so who do you guys think will take the kicking duties ….
Claytie:
Schreuder wasn’t too bad. And Groom kept on kicking away possession when we needed to hold onto the ball.
Ek mis vir Ricky!
Zibbie:
Either Catrakilis or Duvenage.

@Zibbie (Comment 19) : Even the URL says “to sign” not signed yet.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 20) :
haha when your a lion supporter past and present becomes mixed up because its all the same
but yes .. not official announcement yet … but i wouldent mind for his experience though
@robdylan (Comment 12) : You did and I wholeheartedly agreed.Its just that at S15 I would have taken anyone who passed quicker than Ricki.
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 22) : man – I reckon I pass quicker than Ricky…
@robdylan (Comment 9) : agree Rob. At one point in the Super 15 I was starting to think that he was a lot better than I had previously given him credit for. Suddenly thought we had a decent tighthead around. Now though, he’s got the rollerskates on. Strange one
