Could the announcement of Jano Vermaak’s signing with the Bulls be a bit of, uhmm, well …uhmmm bullying tactics?
A few days before the clash against the Lions, which is on top of the CC log, and the Bulls, who we all know seems to be seriously struggling – the announcement of Vermaak’s signing with the Bulls was blasted out in the media.
Now, it seems that there are quite some controversies surrounding the whole deal. First the announcement on the for-eve of the game, then the suspected dropping of Vermaak out of the 22 completely for this game. And apparently the GLRU also was not even aware of these negotiations.
According to sources – Vermaak promised his loyalty to the Lions. On the other hand, another source says that he had an escape clause in his contract that states if the Lions end up in the bottom 3 of the Super 15, he is free to negotiate with other unions.
So whilst the Lions were downing a lion on not ending at the bottom of the log, Mr Vermaak was in heavy negotiations.
If this was indeed the case, and that no one was aware – it’s not so much a great character showing, but neither is dropping him for sighning with another Union.
Will the shock-announcement-tactics of the Bulls work? Will the Lions childish “jy is nie meer my maatjie nie” dropping Vermaak tactics work?
Seems like a little classic war in the media this one! At least this time they cannot blame the Sharks for stealing the meat!

Nah, we don’t want him in our backline, he’s under 30

@CapeShark (Comment 1) :
Its not like we need a top notch scrummie anyway
I like that they are rested but surely would use some of them(if not all) in the upcoming games…
I love my new Galaxy S2 phone.
Didn`t we do the same thing with Luke Watson when he defected to wp?
The heavy negotiations were probably:
BB: “Do you want to join us?”
JV: “Yes!”
BB: “What’s your asking price?”
JV: “Anything, just get me out of here!”
BB: “Deal!”
JV: “Okay see you at the end of the year”
@Franshark (Comment 4) : how did this comment get here, not ment for this thread
@beet (Comment 7) : hehehe
i think that marius joubert was a waste of money. he lost all the speed that he had and certainly done nothing to impress me lately. the same can be said for ross skeate, he is a likeable fella but on the pitch he has done nothing that we need. money gone to waste
Ek sou ook nie met hom speel nie,ek sou hom heeltemal uitgelaat het soos nou.
@JarsonX (Comment 5) : What on earth is that new avatar of yours, I can’t make it out? It’s even stranger that Salmonoid’s new penis & testicles avatar
@Culling Song (Comment 12) : Looks like a chiuaua…
Lions for the Bulls clash:
15. Michael Killian, 14. Deon van Rensburg, 13. Waylon Murray, 12. Alwyn Hollenbach, 11. Lionel Mapoe, 10. Elton Jantjies, 9. Michael Bondesio, 8. Joshua Strauss (Captain), 7. Derick Minnie, 6. Cobus Grobbelaar, 5. Franco van der Merwe, 4. Wikus van Heerden, 3. Jacobie Adriaanse, 2. Bandise Maku, 1. JC Janse van Rensburg
Replacements: 16. Martin Bezuidenhout, 17. Pat Cilliers, 18. Michael Rhodes, 19. Warren Whiteley, 20. Rudy Paige, 21. Burton Francis, 22. Jaco Taute
At a glance the Lions might enjoy ascendancy amongst the backs where the bulls start an inexperienced center. Bondesio is definately better than Jinka as well which leaves only Basson who`ll outshine his opposite number really.
The forwards could be a problem for the lions though . .
Plus homeground advantage . . . damn the bulls could get a result here.
At least this time they cannot blame the Sharks for stealing the meat!
hahah we will find a way dont you worry
well heres to hoping the Lions can pull something off …
cheers !!!!
Woop woop, happy for my mate Rudy Paige, to get his chance at big time rugby.
Nice one Icey!
Real shenanigans out there!
If this is what the Bulls are doing for the S15 next year, then they are in trouble.
@Bump (Comment 16) : How do you know Rudy Paige?
@CS and Ice; Its an armored scorpion
@JarsonX (Comment 20) : of course it is
can’t blame Vermaak fo wanting to go to the team that wins a bit more often – though i think that the golden era of the bulls is over for some time. They are loosing quite a bit of senior player so it will take time to regather and built.
and then can’t blame lions for starting to develop new scrummie immediately.
