DHL Western Province head coach Allister Coetzee, today named his team to take on the Cheetahs at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

The squad has the same starting lineup as the one that fronted the Bulls with Tiaan Liebenberg holding onto the captains armband.

Dimitri Catrikilis must be pinching himself everyday as he gets another start at number ten having not too long ago been regarded as flyhalf number 235 in the Western Cape. The lad has done remarkably well in dictating play and has been accurate with the boot since being given his chance and does not look keen on letting his grip on the jersey slip.

The only change is on the bench with Nick Fenton Wells  making way for the hard grafting and long serving flank Pieter Louw who is returning from a long injury layoff.

The team is as follows:

15. Conrad Jantjes 14. Danie Poolman 13. Johann Sadie12. Tim Whitehead11. JJ Engelbrecht10.Demetri Catrakilis 9. Dewaldt Duvenage8. Nick Koster 7. Siya Kolisi6. Rohan Kitshoff5. De Kock Steenkamp4. Hilton Lobberts 3. Brok Harris2. Tiaan Liebenberg (C)1. Wicus Blaauw

Reserves:

16. Deon Fourie 17. Frans Malherbe18. Adriaan Fondse19. Pieter Louw 20. Nic Groom21. Berton Klaasen22. Marcel Brache

  • I have to say, that Kolisi is one hell of a player. WP is gonna have a decent loose trio next year with Burger, Kolisi and mr over-rated.

  • @KingRiaan (Comment 2) : I can’t narrow down which player you think is Mr Overrated, is it:

Nick Koster – “The next Zinzan Brooke”
    or
Tim Whitehead – “The next Tim Horan”
    or
Duane Vermuelen – “The next Dallaglio”

Perhaps the cape media can clear that up for us…

But seriously guys, remember when they were calling Slapchip’s little boetie: ‘The next Stephen Larkham” and Egon Seconds, the ‘next Doug Howlett’.
    Groan…

Say what you will, but the hype created by those hacks does feed its way thru into the mindset of the average Province fan. In fairness, you guys on Sharksworld seem a pretty impartial bunch.
Now that I’m living in Durban these days, I have to say that my experience of rugby in the Western Cape is that it’s regarded almost like a religion, and the cape media plays into that.

What should be of concern is that Gus played over 90 games for WP.
Whoever kept him involved for so long should be shot!
