Sharks Commercial Manager Rudolf Straeuli confirmed today to the Witness that the du Plessis brother, Bismarck and Jannie, have signed new contracts that will keep them in durban until at least 2013.

Rumours earlier in the week suggested that they might want to play elsewhere after the World Cup, but we’re pleased to announce that these turned out to be spurious.

According to Straeuli, all of the Sharks senior Super Rugby squad have now committed their future to the Durban team.

  • Great news! Especially now that Craig Burden gets an extended run in the CC and will be the second choice for the Super Fifteen. And hopefully Kyle will get a few decent runs in the CC as well so that we have three on form hookers next year. And at prop we are well stock now as well with Beast, Jannie, Chadwick, Wors and Van Staden. Good position to be in depth wise.

  • Glad they re-signed.

Hopefully in the next S15 Plum would use his full depth: Beast, Eugene and Dale at 1, Bismark, Craig and Kyle at 2, Jannie and Wors at 3… I believe Eugene also plays 3?

  • @King Shark (Comment 93) : Eugene is actually more of a 3 than a 1, although he can play either side.
