The Sharks’ most valuable player this season, and one of the most influential players in the tournament so far, Fred Michalak, will be given a light week ahead of the Sharks’ clash with the Leopards, after the French flyhalf injured his hamstring in the game against Western Province last Friday.
Coach John Plumtree has indicated that an easy week for Michalak might allow the player to play against the Leopards on Friday night, even though most fans would suggest he be given the entire week off ahead of the Sharks facing the Lions the following week.
In other injury news from the Sharks camp, prop Dale Chadwick rolled his ankle in the game against Western Province, but was strapped up on the side of the field and was able to get back on the park when Eugen van Staden came off. No other injury concerns were noted.

Jlp or meyer bosman at ten?
Mb at ten,jlp at 12?
Or jlp @10 and mb @12?
Would like to see gouws prinsloo included in match 22
@bergshark (Comment 2) : Tried that already this year. I think we lost by about 30 ?
Bit we won’t be playing the crusaders at twickers.
Better goalkicking by jlp in dbn vs stormers,and we might have had a bp-which woldve sent the sharks to auckland to play blues rather than the saders in the play-offs..
Talking about mvp: ..cesc fabregas is leaving arsenal..
Give the guy the week off and let one of the understudies play the Leopards.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 8) : agree, give him time to recover…
I don’t think it is necessary for him to play against the leopards. Give someone young gun game time.
It would be silly to risk Fred. Our young flyhalf has been called up to the Boks so JLP should start.
Give Fred a rest and bring JLP back from his paid Holiday and give him a game.
Don’t underestimate the Leopards they are playing to stay in the Premier division and that can be dangerous
Agree FM should be 100% fit for the Lions.
@Mutley (Comment 13) : would not underestimate them, but if MB and JLP can’t hold their own against the Leopards then they should stay away from a rugby field all together….
@Franshark (Comment 15) : Very well said!
@Franshark (Comment 15) : Those are wise that words ring out with the unmistakeable sound of truth, guru Franshark!
Hey, my leg would also be sore if I had to kick as many drops as he did on Friday
When was the last time JLP played a rugby game? He isnt even contracted to a club side so will not be match fit. No idea what Plum is thinking but hopefully he doesnt risk Michalek in the Leopards game with a suspect hamstring. My ideal preference would be Bosman at 10 with Joubert and Terblanche at 12 and 13 respectively. Is Jacobs with the Boks still? The other idea is Hoffman at 10 but he looked super rusty last week when he came on.
